TA Zephyr triple and bb length

Hello-

Are you running a TA Zephyr triple on your Riv? What brand of bb and length are you using?

I have a match-built AR with a Phil 123+3 and the teeth on the 42 middle ring are so close to the stay I can barely see light in the gap. Wondering if I should go longer, live with it or go to a smaller chainring.

Possible related issue: the chain skates on the middle ring when shifting down from the 46t big ring. The rings are not ramped and pinned. Chain angle?

I have a Zephyr triple, and I can't remember for sure, but think that might be the BB length.  My middle ring is 36T, so clearance isn't a problem.  I tried plain rings and couldn't get it to shift at all, so went back to TA ramped/pinned rings and it's perfect. 
FWIW I bought from wiggle.co.uk which seem to have the best supply & prices on TA rings.

I've run inners as close as 2 mm to the stay with no problems -- IIRC,
Sheldon permits as little -- but would not want personally to go
closer. IIRC, too, someone on the Boblist was selling a 125 mm Phil
with rings for $85 shipped.

I put a spare 113 Phil on the trike when I swapped out the SunTour
triple for a TA Cyclotourist and found that, even shoved at least 3 mm
to the right, it would not accomodate an inner 26, so I am running
just a single 44, which is fine except for a couple of short area
hills. Must find a 118 or so.

Good morning-

After doing some reading on PJW's site (http://www.peterwhitecycles.com/) it appears that TA switched from ISO to JIS tapers after my cranks were made. So how much of an issue is it to use ISO taper cranks on a JIS taper spindle? Could someone educate me on this or point me to some further reading?

Before having Phil swap out a longer spindle, just move the BB over to the right 1 or 2 mm. That's why the cups have no lips. I'm assuming your cups are centered in the frame at present, so moving them over some won't be an issue. If you've already got the cups over to the right a mm or two, then you'll need either a longer spindle put in, or have the spindle moved over a mm or two. You can move the spindle yourself by tapping it , but unless you are comfortable doing this, I won't recommend it! Phil uses a press to do it. For those that don't know what I'm referring to, the PW spindle is smooth all the way, the only thing that keeps it in place is a pressure fit.
