I'm looking for some bars for a new cargo bike build (Surly Big Dummy) and was intrigued when I saw Will was using Crust's Harvey Mushman bars on his new tandem

Does anyone have experience with these bars, particularly the 24 degree backsweep version? I think I would want to cut them down to 680-ish rather than the stock 800mm as that seems entirely too wide for urban riding. I'm also concerned about getting enough backsweep. Assuming I"ll use a stubby stem (50mm or shorter).

Would love to hear your thoughts if you've used these bars.

I did that exact thing on my Xtracycle Stoker. I went with the 24 degree bars and trimmed maybe 2-3cm(?) from either end. I don't remember how long the stem is but its more than 5cm. Maybe 8-10cm. I love 'em. I think you will too. I also have another pair I plan on using for a future MTB build.... someday.

Haven't used the mushman's, but I recently had the Nitto b802AA 720mm on my lighting bolt in the city.  Similarish, but they have a 15ish degree sweep and only 2" of rise. I really like this style of swept riser bar, but switched out because I would get stuck in traffic sometimes since they were so wide. The 15ish degree sweep feels very similar to riv bullmooses, and I personally find it very comfy. Planning on putting these bars on my Joe since I think they'd be great for trail riding.

I put the 24 deg Mushmans on my latest build (Crust Wombat) which I've ridden only about 65 miles on so far, largely pavement but also some trails.  It's a great all-rounder bar if you want something that feels like a MTB bar but more comfortable.  I cut mine down to 740mm for reference.

Another bar to look at is the Nitto x Crumbworks KT bar.  It's got more sweep, 39 deg, a bit less rise but still a decent amount.  I think it's a bit hard to find at this moment but maybe it'll be restocked again soon?   Photo of each attached (KT on the green bike, if not entirely evident already).

Both have a pretty good wrist feel for me, nothing bad to say about either bar.

This is super helpful, thanks for sending! I would def prefer the Crumbworks bar but as you mentioned they’re hard/impossible to find right now. I’m second guessing myself on the Mushmans bc I want more backsweep. These pics really helped thanks again!
