WTB - Old / used / cheap 650B tires

Assembling a bike from parts, 650B conversion, need some 28-32 650B tires.  You know those ones you took off your bike because they were worn or old but didn't have the heart to throw out?  Yeah, those.  

I do have some practically unused Fatty Rumpkins (too wide for my use case) to trade.

That size is gonna be tough. Riv had some at 33.333mm that were pretty close to 33mm actual. I think Michelin had the Megamium and Hutchinson “Confrérie des 650” tire was about 32m. These were hard to find even years ago.

My experience is Schwalbe is sometimes undersized so I would guess this is more like a 28mm.

Well conversions are great when you can go from < 700x28 with no chance for fenders to >650b x 33 with fenders. If you are still stuck with 28mm that is going to lower the bottom bracket alot and the ability to run fenders might not be worth the effort.  I'm not sure I would even bother with a conversion these days, given there are probably some great used 650b bikes or off the rack Soma's available for cheap.

I keep my conversion bike around for sentimental reasons more than because its a great 650b bike. For instance the Bleriot, San Marcos are better bikes in my world view.

Thanks. It's not a great frame anyways, some sort of pink 80s triathlon frame, lugged but a unicrown fork. I should just set an ebay search for a bleriot or San Marcos or nordavinden and be patient.

This doesn't help you with used, but Riv does sell Continental basketball tires in 32mm (https://www.rivbike.com/collections/tires/products/tire-650b-x-2-continental-basketball?variant=3669081161741), which are available. Amazon sells Nifty Swifty tires, which are slightly wider (https://www.amazon.com/Panaracer-Nifty-Swifty-32-8mm-Black/dp/B001AH5WRI). I have these on my 650b conversion, for the same reason as you—I doubt my frame will fit anything much wider than 34mm. Even with the compromise in tire size and quality (compared with, say, Compass), I'm pretty happy with the conversion. The 32mm tires are better than the 26mm I was running for the roads where I live, and the lowered bottom bracket height makes the bike more stable for me.
