As a frequent Amazon and Rivendell lurker I saw this deal and was wondering if they were the same cranks? I dont need anything right now but there seem to be a few different iterations of the xd600 out there, or so it seems.

There seem to be variations of Sugino cranks with similar names.  The variety comes in the chainrings, some with ramps'n'pins (like your example), some with steel grannys, some with steel middles and /or outers.  Another variation is tooth counts:  24/36/46; 26/36/46; 24/36/48.  No huge differences but worth finding out what you're getting if it's important to you.  But $99 for a nicely finished complete crankset is a decent bargain.

As far as I can tell from my XD2 and XD600:

Both arms say "XDR" amd "XDL" on the inside of their respective crank arms - L being the left arms and R being the right arms.

As far as the arms go, the XD600 has a more lustrous, blingy polish to it.

XD2 - 24-36-46, crown logo
XD600- 26-36-46, SUGINO logo, and high lustre. Serious bling on that thing!

My conjecture and speculation:
It may be that the XD2 is what they make just for RBW, and the XD600 is for everyone else. the 600 is supposed to have ramps n pins, the XD2 are supposed to have none. I haven't checked mine, though.

You be the judge!!

Oh yeah, and the black and raspberry SUGINO sticker label is on the small ring of the 600, and the middle ring of the XD2

I recently saw this same question posed somewhere else and someone responded that it was their understanding that RBW's XD-2 was a crankset they actually put together themselves from individual parts.  I have no idea if this is true but I did notice very early on that the XD-2 seems to be exclusive to RBW.

It's different because that picture is mistakingly for the 152mm version, which uses 50/36/24 rings. Also, If you look at the end of the arm around the pedal area, it's slightly different(not as rounded) than the 160mm+ versions.  The 152mm version uses a slightly different mold. I have 175's and 170's and 152's and the 152 arm contours are slightly different .

Yep, you guys got it as far as I can tell .  Yes it's the same crank arms with OEM rings .  The arms themselves are called XD(or XD2), when sold as complete unit of Al rings in 46/36/26, then the 600 is added to the name, and called the 300 if the middle ring is steel.  It's called the 500 Special Edition if it has a crown logo with Al 48/36/24(steel) rings.   The 152mm version uses 50/36/24 Al rings , though the shape of the arms is slightly different than the 160mm+ versions.  Kinda odd, but it is what it is.

These OEM rings sold with complete units are not available for sale, which is too bad as I like them better than the "basic" non-pinned ones.  It's not the pins and ramps I like so much as the chain clearance is better with no need for added spacers like with the basic rings.  They sell high end$$ rings , yes, but they're not these "lesser" OEM's, they are just sold for complete units.

My Riv crank came with basic Sugino rings with thin spacers.  Some people have said their crank came with the OEM ramped/pinned rings, but they did not say what logo.  So they may be selling both the complete OEM units(600) and assembling their own, or if they're all crown logo arms that would possibly mean they are getting both basic and OEM rings and assembling them with the crown logo arms .  Or maybe Sugino supplies them with whatever they ask .  Or heck, maybe something else altogether as I'm just going by assumptions here !!!

I have bought XD2 cranks (with crown logo) from sellers other than Riv, and you can find them sold elsewhere.  I don't believe Riv has an exclusive on them.
