Thanks for the APPROVal, Bill.
The bridge is a Momosuke Bridge completed in 1922.

Absolutely! Ponchos are the best. I have wonderful poncho from Cleverhood that I wear on every rainy commute and ramble.

Yes, ponchos, please! Sure, I live in a desert so what do I know from rain, but really, when we do get a bit of our annual 9", it tends to come down in buckets, and I've ridden in real gullywashers wearing a cheap Campmor poncho (which I like better than the more expensive Carradice ones I've owned), and stayed dry between neck and knee, even when the rain was accompanied by very strong wind.

The last I looked, Campmor no longer carries their cycling poncho, so I'm glad I bought one when I did. I replaced the annoying leg loops with a stack of large washers at the rear to keep the tail down.

Thanks for the very nice photos.

I haven't enjoyed riding in the rain in the past, but we get enough rain to miss out on quite a few rides when I’m really in the mood.

A couple of these cleverhood ones are under $100.  https://cleverhood.com/collections/rainwear  When riding for fun and ramble , do ya’ll also wear rain pants?  How do you keep your feet dry?

I've never head about Cleverhood. It looks like a good poncho. Thank you, Ahmed.

I was wearing Grundens Poncho which Riv used to sell, Gore-Tex spats by Mont Bell, and shoes covers also by Mont Bell.
Very small area around my knees was uncovered and was a bit wet.
Cleverhood's cheaper poncho is way shorter than Grundens (about 110cm), so you will need to wear rain pants, I think.

Yup.  When it’s really rainy I pop on a pair of cheap rain pants I got from REI. Always does the trick. :-)

I also rock a Cleverhood cape. It hangs pretty loose so it doesn't cause a great deal of condensation underneath unless it's very hot. I'm 5'11"/180cm with some extra weight and the Cleverhood offers great coverage for me.
I find that for most purposes if I have fenders, I don't really need rain pants(unless it's very windy), and shoes get wet on bike or off bike so I don't worry about those.
KC is quite a bit less rainy than other places tho so ymmv.

Thanks. I used to not go riding when it's cold, either , so now this night be my next foray into additional riding opportunities. Anything special you do for rim brakes?

Not especially,  if I ride through mucky areas, I use my water bottle to spray them off once I arrive where I'm going to keep them "clean" or free of debris.
Requires a bit more braking power or longer stopping time, but not huge.   Rim brake pads don't suck up contamination like disc brake pads do and thus become wildly ineffective after getting gross.
I also tend to pick up my bike(mainly the rear end) a few inches and drop it a couple times to shake any excess water off before bringing it inside.  That tends to get the really gross muck off the frame.

If you have the long reach calipers that some Riv models use, my experience is they are mostly ineffective with wet rims, so plan your stops carefully.
