The combination of two big Rivendell Purchases (one Appaloosa and one HubbaHubbaH tandem) has put me into an urgent storage situation.  I need to make two or three bikes go away.  Up for sale is my Clemmish bike that the Appaloosa has pushed into redundancy.

It is a 22" frame size (56cm) 1987 Schwinn Paramountain.  I purchased it on eBay for $400.  I overhauled it and set it up with a Bosco Bullmoose handlebar, and used it as a commute/camping bike for a while.  I then re-overhauled it, and took the frame to Ed Litton for some useful braze ons for racks and fenders.  I intended to go get it powdercoated, but I've decided to skip that step and let you do it. Here's a shot of the whole bike:

I'm resigned to the notion that I can't get out of it anywhere near what I have into it, so I'm just going to part out a few subsystems and absorb the rest into inventory.  Here's what is for sale:

1.  Bosco Bullmoose Handlebars.  58cm.  $115 shipped.  $100 local pickup
2.  Frame + Fork + Headset + Seatpost + Suntour Rollercam brakes + Brakelevers.  $150 shipped.  $130 local pickup
3.  Velo Orange Stainless Steel 26" x 60mm fenders.  $40 shipped.  $30 local pickup
4.  Ruthworks Custom Framebag.  $80 shipped
5.  Wheelset #1.  Bontrager Rims (32h, black with machined sidewalls + eyelets).  SP Dynamo front hub.  Ultegra 6600 rear hub (130mm).  DT 14/15 spokes, brass nipples.  No Skewers.  $200 shipped.  $180 local pickup.  this wheelset is not in the picture of the complete bike.
6.  Wheelset #2.  Araya RM-25 rims (36h).  Unusual Fisher branded sealed bearing hubs (freewheel rear).  100/130 OLD.  $100 shipped.  $80 local pickup.

Let me know if any of this interests you.  Wheelset #1 I think is a great setup for anybody wanting to convert their 80s MTB to a Rat Trap Pass dynamo bike.  If I can bundle some things together and make you a deal, I'll be happy to try to do that for you.

A friend from out of town is borrowing the bike now, so any deals on bullmoose or frame set or wheel set # 1 will be delayed just a bit.

Hi Bill, can you tell us more about the frame bag?  What length top tube will it fit?

The frame bag was custom made for me by Ruthworks here in SF.  It is black canvas.  The frame it was custom built to fit is a Large level top tube mountain bike.  The bag is 22.5 inches long along the top.  It's 7 inches tall.  The front edge is profiled to fit behind the head tube.  The height of that head tube opening is 4 inches.

So, this frame bag will most likely fit a very large level top tube mountain bike.  If your bike is a road bike, your top tube length probably isn't long enough.  If your bike is a contemporary mountain bike, you likely have a sloping top tube and the angle at the back won't fit perfectly.  If you have an enormous classic road bike, you might have the level top tube and a long enough top tube, but your head tube opening might be a lot talller than the bag.

Bill-

I'd like to get in line for the frame bag, if it doesn't work out for CT Cyclist.

Since I have an identical frame to your Paramountain (an XL Schwinn KOM-10, 22" x 24"), that frame bag would fit mine perfectly.

Mine is built with drop bars, and I also had eyelets added to the fork and frame.  I had the brass work done after media-blasting the frame, and now it has a clear powder coat over the raw steel.

Cheers,
Tim

Nobody has claimed the frame bag in any way.  Numerous people PM'd me asking for measurements, and none of those inquirers have any dibs on the bag.  As it stands now, first person who offers to pay for it will get it.

Bill-

I received the frame bag and mounted it on my Schwinn KOM-10.  It fits perfectly, as expected!  My only complaint is that it covers the headbadge.

Due to the three-cable-cluster underneath the down tube, I just ran that downtube strap a little loose around the outside of the whole mess of diving helmet braze-ons.  Is that how you had it set up?

Thanks,
Tim Gavin

Yes I ran that downtube strap loosish. The bag has so much redundancy, you could easily cut off one if it bugs you.

Update:  Everything but the two wheelsets is sold.  I'm giving a bump for the dynamo wheelset before I go pull them apart to steal the hubs for something else.

The Rims are Bontrager Mustang.  They have machined sidewalls and are eyeleted and feature an asymmetric rear.  In other words they are about as nice as rim-brake rims ever got prior to the current situation where rim-brakes are falling from fashion.  32 hole.  DT 2.0/1.8/2.0 spokes, brass nipples.  Ultegra 8/9/10sp rear hub (130mm OLD).  Shutter Precision SV-8 dynamo front hub.  Here are a few photos

There are a few more on my flickr.  You should be able to scroll forward and back.

Front wheel + rear wheel only.  $200 shipped.  If you want tires, tubes, skewers, cassette, let me know and I can set up what you want for a little extra

Bill,

A good set of wheels is all I need to finish my XO-2 build. These take a 10 speed cassette, correct?

Captain Conway

Captain Conway,

I will hold these wheels for you through today, September 1, 2016.  After that I'm going to sell them to the next lister who said they want them.  Let me know if you want 'em!
