I just received my custom velocity cliffhanger wheelset to find that the stock fork on my '93 XO-2 has what I can only describe as toe-in canti studs which won't allow either deore xt v-brakes or Paul neo retro brakes. I'm too far in to this build to turn back now so I want to pick up a nice replacement fork but I'm not really wanting to go down the rabbit hole (too) much further. I'm gonna call Riv to see if I can buy a replacement Atlantis or Hunq fork but would understand if they politely told me to kick rocks. Any cheapish alternatives for a 26+ canti fork?

not sure if the axle to crown measurements match, but i know a lot of people who have had good luck with surly forks as replacements on various bikes. looks like the long haul trucker one comes in 26 or 700c...

...unless the xo-2 has a 1" steerer. then that dimension looks like a good bet.

I have an excellent chrome fork with lots of clearance for 700C wheels, but I don't know what size you are looking for.

I Have an original Hunqapillar fork (700c) version that will be for sale shortly or faster, if you want it. It was for 58cm Hunq so you would need to probably have the steer cut to size, threaded and then have the canti posts moved to where you need too for a 26" wheel. Send me a message if you are interested.

I am pretty sure that the X0-2 fork has a 1" steerer. Long Haul Trucker fork indicates 1 1/8" in the link Eric posted

Thanks all who replied!  For clarification, this is for a 26" wheeled 1" threaded steer tubed fork.  There's lots of clearance on the rear wheel for smart sam 2.1"ers  but up front the wide rim I put in barely fits between the blades.   I never thought to measure that and I'm bummed because I was starting the final build.

Fair winds,

I bought a Handsome XOXO fork for my Atlantis when a needed exactly what you are looking for.  It doesn't seem that it is something that they are offering on their site currently, but I would email them anyway and ask...they were great to deal with.

Here's one on ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tange-Champion-Cr-Mo-Mtb-Fork-26-1-threaded-vintage-mountain-bike-/122155189191?hash=item1c710443c7:g:YkgAAOSwmfhX6xVn

I was in the same situation with my vintage mtb, I ended up getting a non-lugged fork from Bruce Gordon Cycles.  At first, it really bothered me that it didn't match and I felt the ride suffered.  But, now I've moved on (and finally bought a Rivendell).

I would love to find a 26" rivendell fork for my bike though!
