I bought a "blue" banana sax and I got a dark blue color with an inside security fabric flap.  I called Spencer (inventory manager extraordinaire) wanting to order another just like this, and he told me all of his blue bags in stock are like this with the flap.  Now I can tip over and the contents of my bag will stay inside the bag.

This is my preference to the inside toggle, and if it is yours, he has about a dozen in stock, and we're the only ones who know about it!   It is not mentioned on their product page.  Order before it's too late!

The color is more a royal blue color and the bag is very stiff, with inside pocket on one side and a second inside pocket with stiffener on the side.  It reads a touch purple when I put it next to my AHH with a bright light shining on it.  It holds a bit more than the XS Saddle sack, which I like but sold recently because just a touch too small for me.

Is it me, or is the Banana Sack now the only bag in production that attaches to a Brooks via saddle loops? Every other saddle bag seems to mount with a strap that wraps up around the seat rails, then around the bag. I've got an old REI saddle bag scored from a thrift shop thats much like the Banana Sack in fundamental design, so easy to mount / unmount to a Brooks, kinda perfect, can't find anything like it.

Hi Scott,
I think Baggabond, HappiSack, Bagboy, and Saddlesack XS all attach via saddle loops.

I have the predecessors to those (Saddlesack Large, Medium, Small). They are my favorite bags for general use.

Acorn Bags make a several bags that attach to Brooks/Berthoud bag loops.

They are very well built, I've several of them.

The Medium Saddle bag, is the closest to a Banana Bag.

Thanks for the heads-up Roberta. I bought a used one not long ago and it does not have this handy feature. But, it’s so useful and fits just right under my Brooks saddle. I hang my reflective triangle on it and ease on down the road.

Scott, the medium Acorn looks bigger than the Banana bag (sorry, the only name I can call it by).

There's mention on the Riv site about some internal details that sound like what you've got.  I've got an olive on it's way so will know in a couple of days.  It sounds like some pockets or organizer but the description is vague & it doesn't leap off the video.  Ah, the drama of bag buying.

I had bought a gray one about a year ago not knowing that they had added the internal flap.  That, and the 2 internal pockets that are great for small things like a multitool and levers have made it my favorite bag.  I still hang on to my small Sackville but it has been gathering dust since I picked up Banana Sax.  Great bag.

My olive banana sax arrived yesterday & it does just what I need.  I'd also looked at the similarly sized Acorn bag but as often happens with Acorn, out of stock.  Following up on the video about "what fits in a banana sax", I shot these photos of what I needed to carry.  Spare tube, tire levers, mini-pump, hand cleaning thingie.  It fits with room to spare, so no more dumping out the whole bag to get something.  I especially needed the lock to be easy to access.  On my front bag, it always sunk to the bottom & had to be dug out.

I recently got a gray Banana Sax.  When attach it to the saddle though back of my thigh hits the bag when I peddle.  Is common?  or maybe it varies with the rider's height/seat post length?  After a while it get a bit annoying. This bag is great for using in the front.  Looks like it will last a hundred years.

All Carradice-type saddlebags (and Rivendell's are all variations on this theme) gently nuzzle the backs of your thighs as you pedal; I quickly got used to it. But you can make a standoff out of PVC pipe or a piece of scrap wood.

Acorn Bags has an elegant solution to the problem: A cylindrical leather stand-off and strap.
One of the few of their products that is not sold out.
You could do the same with a toe strap and a piece of PVC pipe, as Patrick suggests.

Elegant solution.  I've used my banana sax for several days now & not noticed any problem.  I think it is narrow enough at the front to not have this problem.  I used to use a hobo bag as a saddle bag & it was an issue.  Solved by anchoring the bottom of the bag to the rack so it was spaced back a bit.

I have used a wine cork as a standoff with good success. I lashed it to the leather strap with hemp twine (of course!)
cheers,
Andrew

The standoff solution is so simple and fantastic!  Such possibility never occurred to me!  One could buy the acorn product or there are many options to make one.

Thanks fellas.

I got mine a couple orders back, along with a jumbo grabby. I've been grabbing the grabby but just broke out the banana on a short ride earlier this evening. Both were purchased when I think the only color was gray. I was hesistant, partly because I really liked the brown of my old jumbo grabby, which someone grabbed out of my car :( a while back, partly because I was worried about dirt.

No worries, most of the dirt is on the light side anyway. I almost think I may like the gray better than the brown. And the banana is great--as Roberta says, a bit roomier than my XS Sackville (in brown). And the gray with the brown leather trim is high zoot & goes with my dark blue & black & chrome Fuji Finest. Now I just have to break it in a bit. Shouldn't be too hard as with winter coming the bag with more room will get the call more often than not.

Surlyprof, thanks for the mention of 2 pockets. I had gotten the earlier one with the inner toggle, and when the second one I bought came with a flap instead, I never thought to look under it for a pocket.

Speaking of things I didn’t know, I discarded the Coroplast stiffener out of my first one thinking it was just packing material.
