Hi all, read the obit of Donal Shoup, a smart fellow, cyclist, and skeptic of the place of cars in American cities.
In memoriam: Donald Shoup, 86, renowned UCLA urban planner and parking reform pioneer

Granted, Riv adjacent, but not too far afield, methinks.
Best,
Ryan

His magnum opus was "The High Cost of Free Parking"
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/235359727_The_High_Cost_of_Free_Parking
, which has influenced many urban planners and researchers.
I was a research assistant for him in the 80s. He was both really smart and a very nice guy. Rode a 3-speed Raleigh, often in a tweed jacket.

I have read and enjoyed his book. I love the fact that he is wearing the same (I assume) granny square crochet panel sweater in both photos
