Hi RBW Owners,

I am a long-time bike rider (I bike commuted year-round for 30 years before retiring 2 years ago), but new to Rivendells (I'm supposed to be getting my Homer Hilsen shipped from RBW in the next week or so). I've been reading the RBW Owners conversations and look forward to getting information from this excellent group to help me get the most out of my new bike and keep it in top-notch condition, but my first question isn't about bike maintenance or bike gear, it's about how to find out if there are any Rivendell owners in my area and if there are are any organized activities? Given that I've only ever seen one Rivendell (ridden by a guy wearing cycling knickers that used to irritatingly whiz by me on my way to/from work on the prettiest bike I ever saw),  I would love to get a chance to see more of these amazing machines and meet some of their owners.

I am in ABQ, New Mexico, in the university area. Any Rivendell owners in the area?

Hey Chris,

Welcome! I know there are a couple of people nearby. You can check out the Riv Riders Map to find out more, but I'm sure your local riders will chime in.

Christopher: I’ve lived in ABQ since 1/31/1988, commuted diagonally across town by bike for 10 years, now rok at home but still do most of my errands by bike, and I’ve lived near Coors and Montano NW since 2004. I’d be delighted to meet you and to see your Riv and show you my bikes — only 1 remaining of 5 Rivs purchased — at some time and place of mutual convenience.

Best, Patrick Moore, 1999 Joe Starck custom Riv Road 26” wheel fixed gear slightly modified by Chauncey Matthews in 2018, + 2016 Chauncey Matthews fat tire drop bar bosque trail bike + 2020 Matthews IGH clone of a 2003 Riv Road custom 26” wheel road bike, plus, it seems now, that Monocog back in my possession for further modification as a 3 sp fixed beater fat balloon tire all rounder beater; we’ll see.
