I'm building up a  A Homer Hilsen  and was hoping to use Soma Shikoros in 42c. However, it seems that they are out of stock everywhere and the eta for re-stock is sometime in October.  I'm hoping that some one might be able to suggest a tire that has a similar combination  of smooth riding and flat resistance.

I did call Rivendell and they suggested their "Basketball Tires" (Continental Contact Speed) but I'm hoping there might be other options out there.

Eric, who is used to wildfire smoke in August when he visits his sister in Missoula, but not used to August smoke in Brooklyn

I'd recommend looking into the Gravel King Slicks, or even the SS if you want a little more tread. I've been running the SS, as I ride on pavement and dirt roads regularly. I've been super impressed with how smooth and quiet they are on the pavement, and how surefooted they are on dirt roads.

Good luck on your search.

Thanks  for the suggestion Oliver.  I considered the Gravel King Slicks but I don't think they offer the flat protection of the Shikoros.  Unfortunately, in Brooklyn riding over shards of broke glass is a just part of the ride,

I’ve been pretty happy with the Schwalbe G-One Overlands.

Soma Fab Shop have them in the steel bead version, in stock in various sizes including 42mm, just not the Kevlar bead

On the pricey side but Rene Herse sells 44 slicks that I’ve put through extensive use.
