Grant points out in his latest blog:

"They fasten together fine, the angle of the exit-housing is right on, but the cable groove in the lever sits obviously outboard of the cable hole in the mount, so there's cable rubbing on aluminum, extra friction, and so--bummer."  NOTE: This is on Microshift mounts.  He makes a good point that a little rubbing of the cable on the aluminum is no big deal.

Not sure if it qualifies as a bummer but glad he pointed it out.  I tried mounting on Paul's Thumbie mounts & had the same result.  Since I plan to get Rivendell's mounts when they show up (soon?), I just left well enough alone for now.  I didn't want to build everything up, only to tear it apart again when the real mounts arrive.

Anyone else tinkered around with the Silvers on any other mounts?

It looks like it could be remedied with a thinner washer but I suspect the one pictured has a square hole and possibly a stop to prevent the lever from rotating 360 degrees.

I mounted mine on a Sunrace thumbie in the reverse/inside-of-the-bar Riv way per Will's email a few weeks ago. It works pretty well! Much smoother shifting than the stock Sunrace clicky shifter. I'll def get a Riv mount when they're available, though.

Bummed to hear the Silver 2 shifters don't mount perfectly on the Paul thumbies...even with the adapter.
That was my plan ..to use the Paul mounts in 31.8mm size and the silver 2 shifter.
Does anyone know if there's another shifter mount with a 31.8mm clamp size?

Justin,
Thanks for the heads up. I have Sunrace thumbies on my Appaloosa and I didn’t see that email.
I am going to try that while I wait for the Silver mounts to come in.

Hi Doug,

They will work on the Sunrace mounts with a very slight bit of filing to the mount. I think this was documented in an email from Will, but can't remember exactly. Basically there is a small tab on the face of the mount where the bottom of the lever would sit and that little tab needs to be filed off.

Hope this helps.

Hi Doug,

It is possible to get them on Sunrace thumbie mounts with a slight mod to the mount.

From a Riv email newsletter:

Hack your Sunrace mount to fit a Silver XO shifter

If you're itching to use our new Silver XO shifters as thumbies and can't wait for our upcoming XO mount, you can file off the little tab on a Sunrace thumbie mount and use that instead. It works perfectly, and although the Sunrace mount isn't quite as slick as the new Silver mounts will be, you'll at least get to use the Silver shifter which has a much finer ratchet than the Sunracer.

Here's an exploded view:

The silver tabbed square-in-circle washer can be flipped with the tab up or down. With the tab up it'll stop the shifter from rotating into an awkward position on your bars, but you'll lose some cable-pull.

We tested these shifters (tab flipped down) with my 11 speed SLX set up and they worked fine. The shifter is in a hard to reach spot when you shift into the biggest cog, but it definitely works.

Hope this helps!
