Like the title states, what's the best budget wheelset that comes in 700c sizing?

Looking for something that has a decent internal width, something that can seat 700x33-42 tires without coming off the bead.

Looking to hear everyones opinions for things in the $300-800 price range.

The Crust Rim Brake Wheelset is a great deal IMO and includes a dynamo. Comes in 650b and 130/135mm sizes and also option of no dynamo.

Velomine has Velocity Quills laced to Miche Primato hubs for $420. I bought the exact same wheel set from them over a year ago for my Cross Check that I use to get back and forth to work. They’re not hand built, but I’ve never done any adjustments on them and they’ve been a solid wheel set for me.

Definitely check out VeloMine.

I have a very lightly used velocity built Atlas wheelset with 36 hole and a 130 rear hub I would sell.  The wheels are currently on in my  monstercross, but I may sell that bike.

Hunt currently has rim brake alloy wheels for $486: https://us.huntbikewheels.com/products/hunt-race-aero-wide-road-wheelset

Jon Neugent has by far the lightest wheels within your price range. His website isn't very good, but his wheels are solid. Occasionally Ritchey will have a sale on their wheels which brings them down to a very good price. (I got a pair of Ritchey Logic Disc wheels for my wife's gravel bike for $300!)

That Jon Neugent looks promising! I just wish his wheels had a slightly wider profile internally.

Thanks all for the help! Would still love for others to chime in, I love seeing all these options.

Oh no! I was in a conversation with him late last year about setting up a kickstarter for his EZ-mount wheels. No wonder he didn't follow up. I guess he's no longer an option.

I'll double Velo Mine and also all the Quality/QBP wheels sold all over. If you want a really wide rim, Quality has the Value series HD with silver Cliffhanger machined sidewall rims and Shimano 300/400 hubs.

I've seen those, but those might be TOO wide. I checked the velocity site and the minimum recommended tire width is in the 40's starting. I'd like to mount 33-42 tires

I have no issues mounting 40mm tires on 18mm internal width rims (the Velocity Aerohead series). Don't over-obsess over rim width.

But mounting a 33mm tire on a 25mm internal rim width? That's awfully close in size to one another. I will give them a look though. I'm not the lightest rider around so I just don't want them to unseat lol.

No problem then, If I was going to buy some budget prebuilt wheels I would have bought these even though I don't need the tubeless capacity. Alex Rims AT470, 17mm ID and Shimano R7000(105) hubs, DT 2.0 spokes. Wheel Shop brand machine built. I can't say how true they'd be, but I have a truing stand and many people don't. I'd also drip some oil into the nipples as that'll seem into the threads and make any adjustments in the future easier.

My problem with tubeless wheels is that they're super hard to mount tires on.
