Which part of the fork do you want to attach to?

Paul's Gino mount works well on attaching to a braze on the fork.

The cronometro knob works reasonably well from what I hear for mounting most places on the fork blades : http://www.amazon.com/Cronometro-Bicycle-Handlebar-Computer-Mount/dp/B0065ZN1WS

I've bought or made several gizmos for fork mounting, unfortunately I've forgotten the sources for several of them.

1. There is a 1.25" long, ~1" diamater tube section with provision for a bolt to mount it to a lowrider braze on or to a dropout braze on. Forgot source, but cheap. (Not the VO items, below.)

3. Minoura makes a rather fiddly but secure fork leg strap-on for lights with a metal clamp.

4. There is a ditto made from plastic including a plastic hose clamp that works but tends to break. Forgot source.

5.  I've made sturdy if inelegant fork mounts using a section of 1" PVC pipe or old handlebar (looks better, especially if you plug it with something chromed) radiused to fit over the fork blade and slotted to accept a hose clamp. The metal ones don't look bad, actually.

With the threaded dropout or fork blade braze on you could take a section of brass, copper, steel or aluminum pipe the diameter of a handlebar more or less and put a flat piece on each end with a hole to run a long bolt through. You could use locktite (the removalable kind) to make sure it stays. Heck you could even use a turned solid piece of something even wood and drill a hole and attach the same way. Super simple. My only question, why the fork.....? Why not use it on your helmet to aid in turning corners and for 'pointing' at inattentive drivers?

you can duplicate the Velo lug mount with a champagne cork, two washers and a long screw and an aircraft nut.

sorry, this is a phone photo, but the mount works great

John,

If you want to mount with mid-fork braze-ons I think you already received some good suggestions.  If, like me, you don't have a braze-on where you want the light, I have tried a couple of clamp-on types.  If you can find them the old style, round, tandem "Stoker Stubs" work good.  The other thing I've used with good success is the Minoura Besso LH-50.  < http://poweroncycling.com/product/minoura-lh-50-mount-503.htm >.  Unfortunately, it looks like Minoura is discontinuing these.  Two other options I found were the Profile AirStryke Computer Mount, and the ISSIMO Nob XL.  These might work for a generator light, but I didn't feel they were strong enough to be dependable, especially if you have a light with the extra weight of an internal battery.

I have a Paul Gino Mount and the Nob and neither worked for me.  I have fenders and 1 1/2 in? wide tires so the light beam is half way on the tire when I try to mount the light on the fork.  So I just put the light back on the handlebars.  I have the Nite Rider MiNewt 600 rechargeable light.  Any suggestions?  If not, I can send one of these to someone if anyone needs one.  I know where the Paul mount is.  I'll have to look for the Nob.  I took it off a while ago.
