Just a short (~15 mile) errand ride today — 99* F on the way to 100+) road ride combining USPS, Fat Tire Cycles Corrales, Sprout’s Corrales, and Jeanne’s Alterations, but pleasant even if decidedly non-epic and on a 72” fixed gear not using the 65” or 54” options.

Through we’ve had some — by SW high desert standards — lovely downpours recently (cf flooding in Ruidoso, NM) it’s not enough to make up for sparse winter snowpack and the Rio Grande is once again likely to go dry unless the monsoon really picks up in the next week or so.

Photos from the Montano Boulevard bridge showing the ~half of the river West of the towhead; the overall width of the river must be close to 1/2 mile here, towhead included.

Tho’ the river is nearly dry, the acequias in the area I ride most often were full just a week ago.

When thou didst not, savage, know thine own meaning,

But wouldst gabble like a thing most brutish,

I endowed thy purposes with words that made them known.
