Hi
I'm putting together a plan and parts for some bike touring in Japan in June. I'll be riding a (non-riv) gravelly, all-roadish bike, but one with more relaxed geometry. I'm aiming to be comfortable and ride ~60 miles per day, but not to do it particularly quickly.

It seems Rivendell has many options for bars that would meet that requirement. I've pretty much only ridden drop bars - which of the swept back Riv options would you recommend for this? Which have you tried, what worked and what didn't?

I'm leaning towards the Wavies myself, since I like the look the most.

Cheers,
Oto

I have the equivalent of Wavies, Ahearne MAP bars, on my upright CX bike made into a poor-man's Hillborne - this is an easy 60-mi bike.

The upright wide-grip position makes a huge parachute, so I added Nitto double lamp bracket and mountain bar ends.
This gives a roadie aero/ core-muscle position and slices the wind as well as any road bike.

I will always remain a fan of Moustache/ Albastache, as long as you set up the reach properly using accurate stem reach measurement
(50-60-mm closer stem reach than you ride on road bike).
The wide hoods are the aero position, and beyond comfy.

Hi! Sounds like an awesome trip. I've done a week-long tour on drops and they work fine! Maybe try raising them a couple inches higher and that could get you more comfy...
