Reluctantly letting go of my Quickbeam. I recently acquired a custom Clockwork frame that has Surly horizontal dropouts so I'm set in the single speed department.

Price: $850 plus actual shipping costs via Pirateship.

Frameset:
--Great overall shape, no dents or dings that I can find. A few paint chips, but nothing major. An LBS here respaced the rear end to 130mm to fit the White Industries ENO hub. Comes with Shimano canti brakes and Tange headset with cable stop.

Rear Wheel:
--White Industries ENO Flip Flop. Comes with fixed/free cogs. Laced to Mavic Open Pro rim. Spins true!

Front Wheel:
--Shimano 700c HB-T300 laced to an Alexrims. Not a match to the White Industries rear, but the matching Racer X hub is shot. Ignore the White Industries front wheel in the photo album, its not included, but the tire is. I'm going to unlace the front hub and hopefully someday fix it (it's got a stripped set screw and the bearings are shot). I can include the matching Mavic rim in the box if you'd like.

Tires:
Fairweather Forcruise 700x38 Tires and tubes. These don't fit under the included Fenders.

Fenders:
--I think these are Grand Bois fenders, but I'm not sure.

Nitto Mustache
--I love my albastache bars and will never again use these. I thought I had a pic of these, but I guess I never took one. They're heat treated and I think 25.4, but I don't recall. I can confirm when I'm back home on 7/5.

If you need more parts (bottom bracket, cranks, rings, seatpost), I have some in my bin that I could put in the box for a reasonable price.

Reach out with any other questions.

Would you consider a frame/fork sale? Or frame/fork/wheelset?

Price drop and offering frame/fork/hs for sale only as well.

$800 for everything

$600 for frame/fork/hs

Judging by recent post-Covid Quickbeam prices, this is a good deal, and of interest to a wide group of bike folk. An acquaintance recently bought a $950 orange frameset and when I said I thought that was a little high, he had zero concerns about selling it on if he needed to.

I was pushing my 60cm green QB through the Calling In Sick swap in SF and two sellers in a row asked me how much I’d sell it for. $2800 was my “not for sale” price, but if one of them had called my bluff I wouldn’t have sold it.

I see your Rad Bazaar ad, too. GLWTS!

Philip is not wrong...

I have an orange QuickBeam, I paid more for it 2nd hand quite a few years ago, and my asking price today would be significantly higher than what Michael is asking. (Of course, the orange one is objectively faster than the green one, so it's quite fair.)

When I lucked across my orange 54 Quickbeam last year - complete, $1200, 2 miles from my house - I jumped at the opportunity and have zero misgivings. I currently have 10 rideable bikes including 2 customs and 3 Singlespeeds, and can honestly say the Quickbeam may be the best $1200 purchase in my life. I don't think I'd currently let it go for twice that.

not sure if Mike U has sold this, but its a great price (IMO), its better condition than my current 60cm green QB, if I had the space I would buy, hang it on the wall and use it in future times if I every crash or break my current one....

Looks like I will once-again be a Quickbeam owner.  Mike is traveling until the 5th, so we have agreed to meet on the 6th for pickup. Since I am not the original post author and haven't officially taken possession, I don't feel like I can say "Sold!" But, I do have the cash in hand, and am looking forward to seeing Mike on Sunday. He lives only a few miles from me and I have run into him a few times while we have been riding on our respective commutes to work.

I lost my much-loved orange Quickbeam in 2008 when I was hit by an oncoming car. In the years since, I have tried without luck to talk my brother into selling me one of his. I have been tempted to pick up a Quickbeam replacement a few times.  I will be excited to see how the second round of ownership experience stacks up against the memories.

You beat me to posting the update Ken, but yes I'll say this is sold pending payment.

I’m surprised this lasted as long as it did, seems like a very good price. Maybe people are scared of sourcing 120mm wheels.

Congrats to the new owner!

Eric
Recent QB buyer as well.

Hi Ken, flight looks to be on time and I'm coming back a bit earlier than I remembered. You're welcome to come by tonight if you want. Otherwise tomorrow still works.

This is a very satisfying thread.
Congratulations to you both, and I hope the second Quickbeam works as well for you as the first one!

Yes, Ken...I hope you have many happy miles on QB 2.0...I recall you had a very traumatic accident a few years ago that took a lot of recovery time and I hope you (and all of us riders) never duplicate that experience.

Happy trails all...Ryan

Happy to report that the new-to-me Quickbeam came together yesterday after pickup and made it's debut ride to work today.

Not exactly a glamour shot because it was getting late yesterday and I was tired. Quickbeam.jpg
Work began on the frame: stripped of all parts, scrubbed, cleaned, coat of rust protection spray inside, realign and re-space rear end back to 120mm, align front dropouts, corrective paint work, polish, and wax.

Decided that the theme for this build would be "Fair-Weather" nod to the tires that Mike was kind enough to provide and the fact all of the bearings are loose ball which are marginally more susceptible to water and dirt intrusion.
  • Wheels - Mavic Open Pro, Dura Ace 7600 track hubs, Sapim Race DB spokes
  • Headset - Campagnolo Record loose ball
  • Bottom Bracket - Tange loose ball 107mm
  • Cranks - TA Specialites Alize with 42T Ring - old style Alize that is shaped like the beloved Zephyr
  • Cog - Phil Wood 3/32" 18T fixed cog and Phil Wood lockring
  • Brakes - Shimano XTR M900 Cantilever, DiaCompe hangers and levers
  • Seatpost - Nitto Jaguar SP72
  • Saddle - Brooks C17 Special
  • Bars/Stem - Nitto Noodle, Nitto Technomic Deluxe, Brooks leather wrap, Nitto aluminum plugs, Crane bell
I like to include something special to me as part of each bike that I build up. This felt like the time to finally file, sand, and finish the front brake cable hanger I received from my older brother. It was really rough casting/forged French bit that I had to resize to fit.  No before photos, but here is an after shot.Quickbeam Hanger.jpg

Wait, aren't QB's required to have dual chainring setups? :)

Looks great!
