I'm surprised these haven't been mentioned here (or at least I haven't SEEN them mentioned!) - but Acorn Bags are very, very nice!  We just got ours in today and they look very, very nice.  The new colors seem almost chosen to go well with the current Sam production colors.  I got "Gray" for mine, and she got "Dark Olive" for hers.  They may be hard to get (handmade by a husband/wife team, so production is limited) but it seems worth the trouble (and cost).

I recently purchased a black acorn bag off a list member. Used it last weekend for the first time. Wished I bought one earlier.

They've been around for a while and you'll find many satisfied customers on this list I believe!

There is certainly an Acorn bag fan club here, and you'll see them pop in transactions sell/wtb all the time.
Same with Swift, Treetop, Ruthworks, Ostrich, and many quality bag-makers.
But Rivendell does make a line of great bags and hopefully we give them good press, as well.

I have a pretty round collection for a bunch of bikes. Even after Ron (at Acorn) discontinued his tubular bag, he custom-made me one and provided me extra loops for hanging a blinkie and taming tags.

Ron makes great bags, and his service is first-rate

I had one on a front rack for a few years and always found it handy, but wasn't thrilled with it until I put on a decaleur.  Now I want one on my other bikes.

Your bags look quite nice. I am sure you will get great satisfaction using them. I have enjoyed my acorn bags. The tool bag is always with me!

I used the Acorn bags for several years, then switched to the V-brand saddle bag. I also like my Swift Industries Roll top panniers.

I've had a tan Boxy Rando on my Atlantis since around '09 or '10, whenever he started making that one.  My wife has the (now discontinued) itsy-bitsy small front bag, & then the larger one with the 2 pockets (no rack needed).  She really loves that one.

BTW, the bar tube is back.  A friend got one on a recent production run.  It seems they run whatever sells well, and don't clutter up the site with stuff that doesn't.  I'm guessing when enough people bug 'em for something, they'll put it back on the site.  Stuff comes'n'goes, gets improved, goes away for awhile.  A dynamic situation.  They've got a good thing going.  Nice people.

I have both the small and large tan rondeneur style bags and like them both.  I appreciate the light interior and the quality of the materials.  The small bag came with very nice brass turnbuckles on the small pockets, which I really like but the large one came with snaps that I struggle with.  I also like the main compartment straps going to the side rather than the center where I have to squeeze my hand between the bag & the brake cable.

I have found my bag wishes have evolved over time.  When possible I prefer bags above the fenders, like the smaller, rear Riv bags, and the Acorns up front.

My house is full of Acorn bags of all sorts.  I think the new colors are nice.  They have a new randonneur smaller bag, but I don't like how it opens from the front and lifts to the back.  The drawback is that the wind will blow it open rather than blow it closed.  If you don't access the bag while riding, then it probably won't make a difference for you, but the boxy rando bag opens from the back towards the front (the wind will blow the top closed)...

Very high quality bags and great people.  With that said, I also have several of the Riv bags, and I prefer Mark's wrap to the Acorn wrap, and their small rack bag is perfect when I don't want to use the large boxy rando bag.  Also Riv's reflective properties are smart and awesome for nighttime riding.

I agree that the turnbuckle closures on the pockets are functionally great; but, they tend to rattle on chips eel and the like, which bugs me. Has anyone managed to silence the rattle?

I've never heard a rattle, and I'm pretty sure the required position of my shifter cables keeps the joint tensioned, which prevents vibration.

Have you noticed a difference if you stuff the pockets full?

Keeping pockets full should reduce rattling.
It's nice to see some new colors from Acorn, and that they're offering WR canvas in addition to a waxed canvas choice.

I would have bought the gray years ago if Ron had offered it, and would have kept a couple of other gray bags incl. Sackvilles I ended up selling

Mine rattles when I've forgotten to lock the turnbuckle.  Otherwise they're silent.
