In the process of removing silver 1 downtube shifters(https://www.rivbike.com/products/z4449999jz-lsdkj) from a bike, the enclosures exploded and sent tiny parts flying all over my workshop floor.

I managed to get every piece except one of the springs that creates the ratcheting mechanism. If you're familiar with these shifters you know how tiny they are.

Does anyone know what replacement spring to order?

Thanks!

Tyler

You might be able to try a freehub/pawl spring as a replacement. If you have the silver 1 spring on hand, you can take a length and diameter measurement and maybe I can compare with some of the freehub springs I've got on hand. Spring stiffness may not be a 1:1 replacement though...

I've ordered a set of 12 of these springs. If anyone needs one let me know.

This is the second time I've had to order something from McMaster-Carr for small bike hardware.

I received my springs today and can confirm they are a suitable replacement.

These springs are a little stiffer and make the ratchet a little stiffer as a result.
