I got an email today from RBW asking me to go to the new website and reenter my ordering data, and if possible, buy something.  I don't really need anything but thought I would renew my membership, which recently expired.  I can't find it on the new site, has anyone seen it?

While I'm on the topic, I must say that  I really like the new site, but I do wish RBW would carry more american made products.  They have dropped the Paul's neo retro brakes and only carry the Racer Ms not the racers.  I'd also like to see them carry the White Hubs and cranks along with the Cane Creek levers and headset.

I have found that you can have a bike built with whatever parts you want whether they are on their site or not just like a LBS. I had my Atlantis built with Paul Neo-Retro in front and the Touring Cantis in back with the Canti levers. It was a sweet set up. You probably have to call to arrange this though.

Speaking from too many years in retail, there is always a balance between "everything you want to stock", "everything you should stock", "everything you need to stock" and "what you can afford to devote capital, floorspace, time and energy to stock".  It's a difficult, constantly shifting and multi-variable equation.  Stuff I've loved and use sits there gathering dust, mocking me in it's unsellability, while that pesky 20% quietly and almost unnoticeably accounts for the 80% of cash flow and sell-through.

IME, Rivendell has always been able to work with their key suppliers of choice to get the  right stuff if it isn't on their shelves, or tells you right up front that they can't so you can obtain it.  A lot has to do with availability from their suppliers, as well, I'd reckon.

My operating procedure is that if it's something I really want and don't see, I'll ask.  But, there have also been times when the stuff they have ready to ship is precisely what I need, even though I thought I wanted something else.
