I'm contemplating placing an order with Doom Bars for a set of swept back handlebars, but I see I will need a shim to fit any stem I want to use. I have never used a shim in a handlebar clamp, so...

Do you Doom Bar owners use stems with 2 or 4 bolt bar clamps, or are you happy using a  stem with 1 bolt bar clamp like the Nitto Technomic Deluxe or the Nitto Lugged stem?

Thanks in advance for any input, feedback, advice or pure unadulterated gossip you can share,

I ran a set of 66cm wide Doom swept back bars with a shim and Technomic stem for awhile. They initially slipped under big bumps/curb drops so I reallllly cranked down on the bolt. After that I didn't have any issues. I should not the that I try to keep a light hand on the bars when riding. Also, the shim I used had ridges and when I eventually swapped bars I noticed that the bar appeared indented from the ridges (it could have just been the clear coat that indented but if it was the chromo bars I imagine they'd be fine). Seemed to do the trick and I wouldn't hesitate to run this setup again. it was the width of the bars that ultimately made me swap to Tosco's but I really liked the curves on the Doom bars.

With a 4 bolt Faceplater stem the bars were rock solid.
