Just a brief afternoon ramble of just-shy-of 17 miles (16.65, he
added, conscientiously), but very refreshing. Joe Starck gofast, 75",
6 miles of climbing, 3 of them steep and requiring me to stand. If I
didn't have my daughter waiting at home, I'd have added a few more
miles.

Don't tell *me* that very light wheels and a light bike don't make
climbing easier!

Patrick Moore, who earlier this week had been riding his Fargo with
the grossly heavy Big Apple wheelset in hot, dry, and windy ABQ, NM.

I agree.  I was out for a 25 mile ride which included 1600 feet of climbing ( you may remember a previous post, wisdom or courage, about going down this beast.  As I climbed I was thinking about riding over to my sister's home in the Adirondacks.  The ride is 80 miles and includes 4 miles of 14% grade over White Face Mt.  I've done it a few times but less certain my old body wants to do it again.  Anyway I decided, if I go, I'll take the bike with the smallest chainring (26) I own, strip the fenders & racks, and put the lightest wheels & tires I own (open pro & Grand Bois Cerf.)

Whats the best time for riding in Abq.?

Any time! Seriously, May and October are very nice, tho' May can be
windy. But the weather is most moderate at these times.

Mid 90s this afternoon here in Rio Rancho, NW of ABQ.
