Perfect morning for a ride in Chicago, and the lakeside photo-ops were too good to pass up. The latest iteration of the QB involved swapping out the Flatbed for a Nito Mini. The Flatbed was just too bulky for the doors and elevators I need to navigate before I get to street level. The Mini/Sackville combo works great for these excursions. I may add a flat rack out back to allow grocery-getting / longer adventures. Also swapped out the front paul touring brake for a Ne-Retro. (And the other mis-matched pair are on the Bombadil now.) Check out the Sonnet I found at Lincoln Park Zoo in the Flickr set - Shakespeare must have ridden an early Quickbeam!

It looks very nice. Much better, IMHO than with the flat rack on the front. I think that it you don't always need a flat rack, the Platrack is the way to go. It seems you have one as seen in previous photos...

Thanks Rene - yes - the Platrack is waiting in the wings, but I need a fresh set of long struts. I may end up commuting on the QB, and that would be a great combo.

First of all, there's nothing like a bullmoose quickbeam. Second, your QB set against the Chicago skyline is probably my all-time favorite bike photo.

Hey, I was out there that day also! I was passing through and couldn't pass up a chance to ride along the lake.

Michael, very cool! Both QBs together would have made an amazing shot! Maybe next time. James, all-time favorite? I'm flattered. For an impromptu stop and shoot it did turn out pretty nice, although I admit I considered the triangulation of the composition before I pushed the button. Triangles rule!
