An Open Love letter to the triple chain ring

When I was kid my dad got me a mountain bike from Walmart that had a triple chain ring, and it worked for maybe a few months before I couldn’t shift through all the rings.  So that left an imprint on me.

Fast forward to yesterday I FAFO with a snowy ride into the mountains and my RD cable froze.  I managed to briefly free it an just set it in probably the 18th cog and managed to get home.  So basically turned it into a single speed.  That’s pretty much unspeakable versatility compared to modern groupsets.  

Anyway, I don’t have any ground breaking ideas here it’s just amazing how you can finish a ride once the crap hits the fan.  And I got a pretty good snow picture as an award.
