Today was day 1 for Lael Wilcox riding round the world again, faster this time. Her goal is to beat the world record, man or woman, which means she needs to do it in 78 days. Amazingly, she decided this time to start her ride up the Wisconsin side of Lake Michigan, meaning she spent a good deal of time in the dark purple zone of my personal heat map. I was incredibly surprised and pleased to be able to ride with her on some of my favorite local roads.
