1984/85 Trek 830 - $295 + shipping
The catalog calls this 24.3". A very large bike in a nearly impossible to find size. Not nearly as slack or heavy as other ATB's from the era. The bike has surpising zip and rides really well with or without load.
Frame is the blue '85 830 that I had powder coated, the fork is a 1984 830 in original "Berry Red" paint.
Catalog scans for both years are easy to find online should you want more info there.
Mods:
-chainstays dimpled for 26"x2.35" on wide rims w/ full fenders or 2.4/2.5" tire on not-as-wide rims
-bottle cage bosses added, included triple underneath down tube for Many Thing-style cargo cages, etc
-rear triangle spaced to 135mm
Small ding on top of top tube. Headbadge was removed but is included. Some paint blems but this frameset really deserves a fresh color.
Included with sale:
Tange headset
VO's Dajia high polish 26.8 seatpost.
Shimano/ Araya wheelset - I will also included the wheelset if you want. The price is the same whether you want them or not. They are double wall Araya TM-18 laced to Shimano Parallax, 32h f/r, 8/9/10spd. Tires and cassette in pictures are not included.
Need other parts to get this going? Just ask. I'm sitting on a full XT M737/8/9 group + M750 wheelset for this build. Hoping to clear some room but I'm not desperate to move this one. Only posting the one pic here for now but I can provide many more if you're a potentially serious buyer.
