Even though I was warned not to, I sent GP a name suggestion,
explaining that the combination of two funky names has, IMHO, run it's
course. He's probably sicking the wolverines on me right now.

My suggestion.....Way-bach. A play on the "limo-like" description of
his, meets the "limo-like" Mercedes Maybach meets the JS bar reach to
the rider and on and on.

Hey, it was worth a shot! Told him to flip the Maybach logo, and
steal it. have some fun with a mysterious "W".

"The Wayback Machine" is taken.  I don't know that you'd get sued for reusing it, though.  A cool interwoven W and Mwould be pretty slick...

Yeah, I got it.  I was doing free-association, not misreading you.

Getting back on Way-bach, perhaps P-Diddy will buy one for his son, also!  :)

Given that it makes one feel like King of all they survey, and we know the King is always dressed in dapper tweed, how about "Lord Tweedsmuir" or just "L. Tweedsmuir"?

No, no, no, oh no, no "tweed"!

No "muir" either. Sounds like something from an Orvis wannabee.

What about (Irish gaelic) Dubghail, meaning "dark stranger" -- the first Irish name google turned up. I have no idea how that is pronounced; probably something like "kelly."

Andrew, you've otherwise got taste as indicated by your email moniker ("ashtabula" is good!).

Patrick "thinks ashtabula cranks are a good design" Moore who wonders how you say Ashtabula in Irish?

Does anyone know what these names mean? I bought an A. Homer Hilsen; paged through the Reader it was introduced in; searched the internets...I still don't know who/what it is. Who's Rosco Bubbe? And why are they calling him Bosco Rubbe?

Well, Bosco musta been a chocolate magnate. There is a line of syrup
and chocolate bars with his first name.

There is also a clawhammer banjo player from Japan named Bosco. He's
quite good. So maybe the bike name refers to him?

I think they're just playing: Hilsen genesis, in the Reader:
http://www.cyclofiend.com/Images/rbw/rr38_pg44lg.jpg

There was a vintage cartoon character named Bosko. I remember him as
Betty Boop's sidekick, but the internet tells me otherwise. Searching
for Roscoe Bubbe runs right up against Google's new "eBay-style"
search algorithm, and brings back "Roscoe Bubble," a line of stage
effects.
And I think it just sounds good. "Roscoe Bubbe." It's the sort of word-
combo that you say, and say again, and gets stuck on your tongue.
Flipping it around is just more fun, like PunkaWhiller, or Hilmer
Hosen.

Now... 'punkawhiller' would make a great name for a kid's bike! It
sounds like a 1950s flying toy that throws sparks and spins.

I do have ideas for bike names, but not for Rivendell bike names. :^)

Hmm, what was the name of the guy in the comic that came with bubblegum? Rosco is ringing a bell there.
