I've been a VP Harrier fan for some years now. They're wide in both width and length, while still being fairly thin/low-profile. Discontinued for some time now, there were also recall notices on the web, but for versions evidently way older than mine.
Not sure there was ever an official VP replacement, but there are p-l-e-n-t-y of wide/longer platform pedals in the world today, some with significant pins, others not so much. Looks like a number of duplicate plastic/composite candidates out there as well, which can be an effective/cost-efficient way to evaluate a pedal before springing for the full-metal experience.
Looking for flickr photos I'm realizing I tend to totally neglect pedal pix, despite obsessively documenting ever other square millimeter of hardware. Go figure.
