Wish I could afford to buy a second frame to keep as a spare.

Just throwing this out there in case somebody is on the fenve because what they really want is a Large Susie in the construction pumpkin orange color, but it isn't available anymore:  if you get a large dark gold frame, I will trade you for my orange.

Smalls and Mediums in all colors still available. Come on gang, I need somebody to grab a 51cm Mermaid Gus and go mountain biking with it and scratch it all up, then sell it to me cheap later. Let's go!

Hehe, it's not even an accurate perspective, I think Gus and Susie are going to hold their value for a long time. Y'all should buy them and keep them!

I agree, Joe. I suspect these bikes will be among those highly sought-after, storied Rivendells - maybe soon, maybe further down the road, but I think your assessment is right on the money.

Looks like Crust bikes still has a XL (59cm) Lime-Olive Susie Longbolts in stock. This size uses a 31.8mm top tube diameter unlike the smaller models that use a 28.6 top tube diameter.

C & L cycles in Montréal have a large lime olive Susie complete.

With this discussion about Gus and Susie bikes about that they will be more than likely to be very sought after bikes down the road as time goes on, I ask, do you think that the Clem Smith Jr. models "H" and "L" are to going to follow the of suits ?

As a senior male person owning a Clem Smith Jr. "L" bicycle, I am hoping not. For the main reason being that of I love the low bar for the  ease of mounting and dismounting my bike, then followed by the upright riding position, low gearing, its capabilities of being an "all terrain bike" or Hillibike. It is a happy and fun bike. I do not see my bike as a "girls bike".

I am right there with you Kim. I suspect Rivendell will keep this model around indefinitely. It’s very unique in the lineup & is pretty darn perfect.
Long live the Clem!

I hope that time will prove it being so. Grant has designed some very awesome bikes in recent years. The Clem is one of them.

Going to my LBS tomorrow to buy a new chain (64.5" long), after finding the masterlink.

New chain? How many miles on the one you have?.......

Hi Richard,

I do not know exactly. I am the third owner within a year from purchasing it in mid-September of 2022.

I been having chain jumping issues. I changed out the rear cassette to new one; a SunRace 11-40T recently. That did not solve the problem. I am hoping that changing out the chain, installing a new Shimano Deore M951 rear derailleur and new cable will elevate the problem.  Maybe tighten the outer screw nut on the inside of the Suntour Bar-Con ratchet end shifter for the rear derailleur.

This is where I am.

What brand of chain are you replacing? I had the jumping issues in the smallest cog on my custom for months, then I discovered Wipperman Connex chains use a directional quick-connect. Mine was backwards!

Upon removing the chain, I read the markings of KMC.  I noticed that the chain had a lot of slideways play and  bend to it. It looked pretty worn.

Interesting, Joe that you discovered that your chain was on backasswords.
