Especially when you compare them to some alternatives, like this $745 Scotch bag!

Enjoying flat, grabby, and jumbo grabby sacks,

No doubt!

I adore the handmade bags that some other really cool companies put out (particularly Swift Industries), but the Sackville stuff is (to me) better looking overall and unquestionably a better value.

I just wish the Backabike bags would come back soon...the longer they remain out of stock, the more reasonable $400 for a pair of Swift panniers seems.

Indeed, I've carried my Scotch, as well as my beer, in a grid-grey Sackville bag, and enjoyed both the riding and the imbibing. And my Scottish friends all agree.

I love sackvilles too, and they are a spectacular deal, but if you want to go all in on handmade bags, check out Fogg bags. They are made by a great couple in southern France. I have one and it is exquisite.https://www.foggspecialistbags.com/

And I too am waiting for the backabikes to be back in stock.

I asked this week. Reply here ->  Hi Howard,

We're waiting on a rear rack to be developed that will determine how the bags attach. We're working on 'em!

Huh...I got a different response from Spencer, but I think you can put his together with Will's and see what's happening.

Spencer told me, and I paraphrase, I don't have an answer because it could be a month, it could be three months. He was very polite, though...hard to capture that in my paraphrase.

Just wanted to throw into the mix, that I recently had a beautiful custom saddlebag made by Waxwing in Vermont. www.waxwingbagco.com
Everything about the experience was awesome and the bag came out great!

I love all the small hand-made bag companies in this thread! I still would rather get Sackville, personally, but they're all very nice.

In a perfect world, Artifact Bags (right here in Omaha!) would make bicycle bags, but I've e-mailed and asked in person and am always told, "no." Oh well.

There are ROYAL Sackville Backabike bags available now.  Spencer said in his email of 04/26, "Yes, hope to have some olive backabike bags in about 4-6 weeks."Back o Backabike Bag.jpgWill Rack.jpg
The back of the Backabike Bags are being modified with bungee cord and a hook. Will Keating is using a prototype TIG welded rear rack from Taiwan.
" The rear rack is a sample of one we'll hopefully have in stock later this year. It's like the Nittos, but tig welded instead of brazed and a lot more affordable." - Will
All the best,
Howard.

I got some grey back a bike bags.  The bungee is hard to do on a large rack/wheelsize but doable on my 26 in wheel w/rack.  I still had to pull hard to cinch the buckle.  It's easy to take off but harder to put on.  Bags are great.  They swallow so much stuff!
