Hi All,
I'm putting my beloved Hunq up for sale.  It's one of those iconic bikes that I thought I would never sell but between my Atlantis and my Susie there is quite a lot of overlap.

I'm only interested in selling as-is minus the saddle.  It's fully equipped to tour.  Usual small chips and marks here and there but overall in good condition, no dents or issues.  There's full res pictures here:

and here are the specs/details:

-My pbh is 89cm and the saddle is set to ~78cm in the photos, standover is 32.5"

-Nitto bull moose choco bars
-Nitto bar plugs
-ESI grips
-Chris King headset
-2x10 drivetrain (XT front/rear mechs, deore crank, BB)
-VP-001 pedals
-Paul levers
-Paul cantis w/ diacompe hangers, brass boop/derailleur cable straddle wire (excellent feel/modulation compared to thicker straddle wires)
-Nitto campee rear rack
-Nitto low rider front rack (I might have a pair of sackville bags for these if you have interest)
-Nitto seatpost
-Spurcycle bell
-MUSA custom frame bag
-Planet Bike ALX fenders
-Reflector
-Dyno/Alex Adventurer 36h front wheel
-Velo Orange Gran Cru/Alex Adventurer 36h rear wheel
-Schwalbe Thunder Burts
-Velo Orange Mojave cage
-King cage Iris cage
-Nitto straddle cable cage/protector if you want to run a saddle bag only and no rack

Price is $3,600 via PayPal goods and services plus actual shipping w/ insurance via Bike Flights.

Bars will need to ship separate as there's no good way to get them in the bike box I have.

Reach out with questions, cheers!

Alex in Rochester, NY

A note on the drivetrain....chain is not registering at .75 wear on a Park Tool chain ware indicator and is original to this drivetrain. (KMC chain)

All of the parts were added/built onto the bike at the same time and were bought new.   Tires have lots of life left.

Alex, what a beautiful bike and build! Definitely iconic

I have an older 58 Hunq that I love and hope I never have to sell. With my downsizing dreams, I constantly debate about going down to one or two bikes. I've also considered the overlap with the Atlantis and whether I should let one of the two go, but if that were to happen, the Hunq certainly would stay.

I'm surprised it's still up for sale, I know it's a lot of $$ but totally worth it in my opinion.

Good luck with the sale... someone will get an awesome bike if they pull the trigger on this.

Cheers.

Thanks Max!

I know, it's a bit wild that I posted it for sale.  We're moving so I've been going through an existential crisis on materialism.  This is quite the experiment on how I feel before, during and (potentially) after the sale.  It's been an interesting ride in my head these past 24hrs   ;-)

I do agree it's not a small amount of money.  Considering the build, I think it's a generous price aimed at a special group of people. I'm equally surprised it's still for sale.

(especially since Hunqs are currently unobtainium at Riv and they're pricing for a Waterford-built Rodeo frame is $2,800 )

Best,

Alex

That's a super beautiful bike, Alex. Does it come with the cat?

Best of luck with the sale and the existential crisis that follows.

Cheers.

Hi Alex, I think there might be a typo on one of your posts since I see two different numbers.
What's the actual asking price?

The second number is what Roadeo frames go for now (same builder). His price is in the first post.

So much want, do you have a financing program available?

Kidding, good luck with the sale.

PayPal has a 6 months 0% interest program, easy! 😂

But seriously folks, don't doddle if you're really interested in Alex's Hunq. None of the Riv MUSA frames from the last 15 years or so seem to pop up on the used market much

Argh, I have been waiting for the Appaloosas to come in as I've been told I need to go sturdier than a Sam Hillborne (I've broken two now!) - a Hunq would be even better, but I really can't justify buying the whole bike when we're about to drop $$$$ on a house project. If you decide to part it out, you'd have a buyer for the frame!

Hi John!
I just don’t have the capacity to take on larger projects at the moment.   To kick the ball back in your direction, you could part it out and do quite well offsetting your cost of the frame 😊

There is certainly a lot to like about that build! Good thing it is too small for me :-)

BTW, I love the second photo with the cat ogling the Riv. Clearly it is a cylophile just as we are!

It comes complete as shown in the pictures with the bag and all?  Would you consider a trade?

Not interested in trades, but appreciate the offer

Since you've obviously used that rear rack, could you (or anyone else) tell me what the tangs on the bottom of the top platform are for and how theyre used? Sorry to hijack your thread.

Hi Michael, my assumption was they were tie-down points for bungees/straps/bags.  Someone might have a better answer though....
