Easy on/off basket rig

I've been trying different ways to carry largish loads on the Hon Solo ever since I got it some years ago. Large panniers are awkward on a bike with such short stays; even large saddlebags (Sackville Large, for example) are too small; and baskets don't attach and detach quickly.

I tried Ortlieb's QR device for their older trunk bags, but it is too flimsy. The new mechanism may be sturdier, but it is not yet available for separate sale.

A simple wooden block cut to fit snugly in the space between for/aft and side rack rails, and bolted to the bottom of the basket allows you to simply place the basket on the rack leaving it secure from sideways or fore/aft movement. A single toe strap keeps the basket from rising or tipping backward; interference with the SQR block on the seatpost keeps the basket from tipping forward. It slips on and lifts off once the strap is removed.

Somewhat crude -- I'm not a craftsman -- but sturdy and secure.

BTW, the basket is a home office item from Target or Office Depot, part of a modular storage system. Cheaper than a Wald, and big enough for 2 full paper grocery sacks.
