In an ongoing effort to condense my bike collection to the bikes I ride most often, I am offering for sale my 2016 Waterford-made Rosco Bubbe in size 51 with the handy lift-a-tube frame. The candy apple red color, decals, and head-badge are beautiful. It is a surprisingly zippy, nimble-feeling bike. It gets up to cruising speed very quickly. I used it as an errand/grocery bike and the frame has some abrasions from locking it up around town. Low mileage.

Parts list below. Lots of pictures here. The saddle height in the pics is 71.

You can see in the pics that I originally had it configured with a Copenhagen Wheel but ended up giving that up in favor of regular wheels. I am offering it with 700x42 tires on it. It can easily fit up to 50s. My recollection in trying to fit 54s was that the rear tire had sufficient clearance in the brake area but not where the tire approached the frame underneath. I don’t recall whether the chain stay width or length was inadequate. Perhaps both. 700x50s fit great and were super fun.

I am happy to sell it either as frame/fork/headset/bottom bracket for $1100 or for $2100 complete as shown. If you want only a partial build, feel free to make an offer. I will pay to have it professionally packed and buyer pays for BikeFlights shipping. Happy to split paypal fees.  Local pick-up in/near Boulder CO available too.

Hi Val,

I'm thinking the list will want to know how to size this (whether it's a more Roadini or Appaloosa 51cm). Can you tell us the effective toptube?

Holy moly that's a pretty bike! ❤️

Excellent point, Joe! Thanks. I happen to have a 2016 Appaloosa 51 to compare.  🙂

By my measurements, the effective top tube center to center are Appaloosa 57 and Bubbe 58.5. Both fit me at 5’7” and an 82 PBH. The Bubbe is a slightly bigger, better fit for me.  I like the zippy feel of the 700c wheels and it feels lighter (haven’t weighed them — just an impression). Yet, I love the Appaloosa for its beautiful lugs and 650B wheel size. I put a picture of them next to each other in the photo album.

This all reinforces to me that I am not actually super motivated to sell the Bubbe. It is a great bike — pretty and versatile. I think I will make a separate listing for my 52 Clem H and see if that one generates any interest. . .
