As can be seen in the pictures, both the Acorn Tool Roll and the Lone Peak Micro Rack Pack bag fit my Clem Smith Jr. and look good doing so. They also are ideal for carrying a range of tire-changing tools and lightweight essentials for a day’s outing. But there’s a problem. They don’t match.
Sure, it’s a first world problem. And sure, a person a bit less anal could easily lead a full and productive life even while confronting such issues. But I’m weak. Things Should Match. Or At Least Coordinate. Having just scored matching new front and rear bags from Acorn’s most recent production, these must go. Here’s what’s on offer:
Acorn Tool Roll/Bag : $40 delivered within the USA.
This is a very tidy little number that’s hand-made in the USA. It tucks in behind one’s saddle and can carry a spare tube, tire irons, a multi-tool, small patch kit, a pair of latex gloves (because having clean hands is another compulsion) and a bit more. All three inner pockets zip securely to hold your tools and tube. The bag is in very nice condition with no scuffs, abrasion or damage. The tool roll is made of waxed cotton canvas with naturally-tanned leather straps. The color is an olive green, a flavor that is no longer available. Lone Peak Micro Rack Pack : $35 delivered within the USA
This compact MUSA bag seems to have been made to exactly fit the smaller Nitto front racks. Its tail end has a loop that fits over the “tombstone” on the rack (and doubles as a handle if you carry the bag). Four Velcro straps secure the bag to the rack’s platform. The zippered opening seals out the elements (although I haven’t used it in a downpour) and bungee webbing on the top can hold your gloves or other items for quick access. It’s made of 1000 denier textured nylon with hi-density closed cell foam on the sides and bottom and a plastic frame inside the bottom to give stability and prevent sagging. There’s also a reflective stripe around the perimeter to aid visibility. Excellent condition. More pictures available on request. Here’s the relevant link:
