Brennie, thanks for posting this.I remember this interview. There was another interview that Grant did with Richard. It may have been from around the time that Richard was designing a lug for Grant. It came at a time when I was considering the purchase of a Rivendell. In may not have been an interview but rather a short piece written by Richard for the reader. Richard wrote about the fork crown & how a rider can see it while riding. He said something like every time you looked down and saw the crown you rode with the maker. I thought that was beautiful. Ironically it influenced my decision to NOT buy a Rivendell. As intrigued as I was by what Grant was trying to do I was of the opinion that a true high quality bicycle frame should have the name of its maker on it. So I bought a Richard Sachs instead. Equally ironic perhaps is that I quit riding drops after back surgery so I sold the Sachs & bought two Rivendell’s - 20 or so years after. I miss the Sachs immensely. But I have never enjoyed riding more.
Richard talks a lot about the role of serendipity in his life. I am a big believer.:)

The other week I reformatted an interview that Grant had done with Charlie Cunningham for the Riv Reader and I posted it here. People seemed pleased to read it so I decided to do the same with another interview, this time being Grant's 2002 interview with Richard Sachs.
