Google in its infinitesimal wisdom (or infinite cynicism) has prevented me from using the most popular smartphone on the planet to "reply to author" effectively... though I did try to create a private message with "I'll take it" on the subject. Please let me know how I can pay you if my plea won the day.

I can't find "reply to author" on the newfangled Google Groups, either. If they "fix" it one more time...

I believe if you select the drop down arrow to the right of the Post reply button you have several options. The first is "reply to author"

And how do you do that on your desktop? I'm running IE9 and cannot find a reply to author link.

Oh, I see it. Weird..when I tried to reply to Rocky yesterday, that arrow wasn't there.

Unfortunately, that doesn't exist on the "mobile" interface. And, from my iPhone's safari web browser, I cannot actually put content into the reply when I choose the "Desktop" interface.

Both the mobile and desktop interfaces used to work from my iPhone before Google's recent change, which broke them.
