This is the first of a consolidation needed on my part. The perfect specimen of a Waterford made Riv Atlantis.

I've had a few Riv's and this one is BY FAR my favorite. It was the most versatile, best riding, fitting, and looking. But if you're here...you know these things.

From what I know, the 54.5 Atlantisii are not terribly common. Where the 56 was a bit stretchy and tall, this one felt like it put the bike right where I needed it for off road play. This is the more classic Riv geometry akin to the first AllRounder, not the long chainstay current offerings.

Please take note of the cosmetic condition. I can only describe it as immaculately beausaged. If you're a hand wringer over paint chips and surface rust....run...do not walk. Just look away. YES, there are chips and scratches. No dents or damage. Could it be touched up or repainted...sure, but I feel it would be a bit of a disservice to the history of this beautiful beast. It's a proper tool that's been used correctly, and taken care of. It will continue to do it's job given the same care. Frame and all the parts are super clean.

This nearly complete package includes the following:
Frame & Fork
FSA Sealed Bearing Headset
Nitto Technomic stem
Nitto Moustache Bar
Suntour micro ratchet bar end shifters
Dia Compe non-aero brake levers
Newbams grey tape
Nitto Seatpost
Fujita BELT leather saddle
Shimano UN71 Bottom Bracket
Shimano Mountain LX deraillers
Shimano BR-550 Canti brakes
Front cable hanger
Rear Surly Cable hanger

**Wheels not included** (I stole the ones off my daughters bike for pics)

$1400 plus whatever shipping to get it to you in the US. Typically use shipbikes.com

Brad:

What wheel size?  In that frame size, Atlantis have been made for 26" & 650B.

Huh. According to the geo chart I linked, there is only 26" listed for the 54.5cm frame? But I happened to notice some other conflicting info on there too, so lets clarify:

26" Wheels on this one

Physical measurements of THIS frame:
54.5cm Top tube measured center to center
54.5cm center to top

Could we argue this is a 53??
I understood Rivendell sizing was listed as the seat tube center to top? Is this wrong??

The measurements of this frame feel very "ish" compared to that chart after closer inspection.

I believe there was a 650B Waterford Atlantis for a very short time before Riv stopped production then did the MIT frame, but most Waterfords will be 26" or 700C.

Your frame looks like a 54.5 to me, my guess is you need to level your tape out get a true TT number. The actual tube will measure less.

OK...I remounted wheels and got out the string and level.

This IS a 54.5cm frame. Accounting for the slope, the effective TT is 56. Actual TT 54.5 c-c. Seat tube 53 c-c / 54.5 c-t

Man, that looks like the one I had, 61 cm. Received in trade for a 61 cm Roadeo frame. It has all the brazeons of an Appaloosa, but not the wheelbase or extra top tube. I think the chainstays are about 1 inch longer than normal. In this photo tires are Soma Supple Vitesse 700x48, fenders take up some space in the chainstay bb area

Totally! The braze ons are crazy. including the 3 sets of bottle bosses, there are 22 attachment points! I really liked having the two main triangle bottles and the under down tube one. Never thought I'd have need for three bottles of water...now I can't imagine doing without!

Wherever that picture was taken is PERFECT Atlantis territory. That peak in the back is calling!

It is Bishop Peak, off Foothill Rd in San Luis Obispo, 35.30216, -120.69712, one of the Seven Sisters, or Nine Sisters whichever source you read. A series of east-west trending Miocene volcanic plugs, ending at Morro Rock, along the edge of harbor at Morro Bay.

Brad, I’m pretty certain that is too small for me, but for the sake of my hand wringing and breaking into a cold sweat, what is the saddle height in the pics? I’m a “scared to get the first scratch” kinda guy, so some heavy patina just says “ride me like ya stole me!” to me.

LOL! I'm very much in the same boat. A nice shiny new bike is great...but I'm always super reserved. And when it does get marred, it bugs me. This one is odd, it's very much a feeling of use and not neglect. Hard to explain, but easy to understand in the metal so to speak.

Anyway, saddle in the pics is @ 73cm. I'm 5'9" @ 32" inseam for reference.
