Mississippi Morning

Hey Riv Owners, 

I just joined the group, but I have been a fan of Rivendell for a while. My introduction to the brand was through a Bridgestone seller. He sold me a dark metallic green MB-5 and impressed on me that the builder of that bike meant business AND that said bike would sell for lots more in a different city. I rode that thing for a while and absolutely loved it. Did my first overnighter on it. Commuted through the winter on it. Finally realized that it was two sizes (really like one and a half) too big for me and sold it. 

When I looked further into this Bridgestone business, I truly came in contact with Rivendell, the Blahg, heard about the BOB, met a guy who used to work for the Bridgestone dealership in my hometown and used to own an MB Zip, fell in love with a few bikes via online posts (I have still never seen a Riv in person), and finally found myself here. 

On January 1st of this year, I finally secured an MB in my own size (pictured below). I basically slapped all the best stuff from my parts bin on there, but it is still janky. 

I have some of the parts to convert this bad boy to a 2x9 setup (makes a lot more sense to me as a rider), I have a set of PDW fenders I will put on there soon (not silver, but more affordable and gave the build some aesthetic direction), and I'm hoping to get a proper front rack to attach my basket to for a shopsack (basket not pictured and shopsack not acquired), and I'd like to reconfigure the cockpit. 

I'd love some input on the build. Since it is tig-welded with a unicrown fork, I was trying to lean more into the rugged look. I commute on it, ride gravel on it, camp, and do some light (green maybe blue) mountain biking on it. Kinda Hunquapillar-esque. 

Anyway, I'd love to start a conversation about it! 

Ride this morning was 14.24 miles in the Mississippi heat! Just moved here, so I'm getting used to the humidity.

I am a Riv owner and rider in south Mississippi. Are you now located in north, central or south Mississippi?

I'll show my photo op from this morning.  

We had a very pleasant 25-mi ride to and from coffee, with polite and pleasant cloud cover from 7a through our 9:45 landing.  

Rode greenway concrete slab, wood bridges, and the extra 10 miles were a side loop of scraped macadam and gravel (more wood bridges).  

The flowers that match my RoadUno (3x1) are Texas Tea Roses.
