Thanks Brendan, my parts supply was sold off when I thought I would not be riding again. Here is a note I put on the iBob page. Let me know if you find something.

Joel

Looks like these will be hard to find so I will probably get a Shimano Acera M 360 or Shimano Deore M 591. Any thoughts for casual riding, they are both long cage and from the Riv page seems like both will work fine. Mark at Rivendell was a great help and it was nice to talk to him after so many years. Now that I am riding again I need to get my Bleriot perfect. Thanks

Joel, you're back on the bike! That's great to hear.

Yes that Deore Riv sells is great for cassettes/freewheels up to 36t. If they're out of stock I know Roberta (REC) here is selling one. I'll let her know about this thread.

Thanks Joe.  Yeah, 3 rides now, my back is ok so far.  Nice to ride.  The bike is at the shop, after 10 years it needs a good tune up.  I either damaged the derailleur or maybe bent the hanger, I think I prefer the Deore as it is made in Japan, nor sure about the Acera.  I have not used a non Suntour rear but friction shifting should be good with this.  The local shop has the Acera but I think I would really prefer the Deore.  Roberta can let me know, thanks.  I hope you are well.

No luck. I have an XT 9 speed rear with medium heavy use though. Not pretty, but bullet proof for 3x9.

Thanks Brendan.  Thumbs, a sore spot for me, basal joint arthritis.  Failed surgery on both hands 10 years ago, lasted 5 years.  New technique on RT. Hand in Dec, not good results.  Without thumbs everything is difficult.

Thanks for looking.

Indeed Joel, I have the basal joint arthritis, too. So far mostly in my right hand so I swapped shifting so the rear is done with my left. I ride quite upright now to keep pressure off, and a hand therapist taught me to bend my thumbs around bars to alleviate stress on the joint (like this 👌). I used to ride with my thumbs stretched flat, I don't do that anymore.

So you understand.  The first surgery had should’ve been more successful it’s tried improving so I don’t know what went wrong especially with both hands. The second surgery I had on my right hand to use something called a mini tight rope, they insert a nylon thread like material with anchors from your thumb into your next finger to reposition your thumb, it sounded great but it’s not done the job and I am 5 1/2 months out now so it’s long enough I would now maybe even six months.  Do whatever you can to keep yourself on from having surgery if you need some info I have some braces that I’ve use that are really not overly visible and they were quite well let me know and I’ll send you the info on them if you’d like. Be well

Nathan, I may let the shop just put a new Shimano on it.  It will be the quickest for me to get riding.
