Hey All,

It’d appear that Blue Lug has Clem frames available for international shipping now. If any of you were wanting just a frame this seems the way to do it(though spendy!). Just out one in my cart and it’s $1500 + $210 for shipping and I’d reckon the tariff will be a similar amount.

I know for some the heart wants what it wants, so I thought I’d let the group know!

I would be prepared for a higher tariff bill, just in case. My most recent DHL shipment of misc. parts from Blue Lug came with ~27% in import duties. ($38 on a $140 subtotal). Not trying to dissuade anyone, just don't want folks to be surprised if higher.

Those Clems sure are pretty, though - wouldn't trade mine for the world!

Hey Kim,

I had to go Vince’s Blue. It’s just too good.

Will upload some photos when I’ve got it built up!

Great to hear that you have chosen Vince's blue color. I am very happy for you. 'Tis a very stunning color. I am a big fan of blue bicycles. My next favorite is periwinkle.

I'm looking forward to seeing your build on your Clem.

Enjoy,
Kim.

Please let us know what you end up paying in tariffs. It may be as much as 30%

Hey All,

Frame shipped on 10/06, and it’s due to arrive today. Shipping was $210.89 on top of the frame price.

No bill from FedEx yet. I will update here what comes through in the next few weeks as far as tariff/duty for those interested in ordering frames from BL.

Happy Riding,

- Drew in ATL

I've been entertaining the thought of buying a bunch of parts from BL for years... the thought resurfaced today, and now I'm wondering if any folks have an idea of what the current tariff process is like... maybe 30%? and when does one pay the tariff? on Delivery?

Many thanks in advance!

Hey Nick,

I ordered parts from Blue Lug back in June. My order total was $279.

A few weeks later, I received a bill from FedEx with the following charges:

Tariffs: $12.74
FedEx disbursement fee: $15

I've read that there's some workaround to avoid the $15 fee where you give FedEx permission to bill your account automatically. Hope this helps!

Best,
Alex

I placed an order in May. The parts came to $357, shipping was $64. Fedex billed me for an extra $96, without an itemized breakdown.

I've heard conflicting points of data on how much FexEx is billing after deliveries... Here's what one member told me last week before I ordered:

"...Last year I order frame & parts from blue lug & seems like it was $400ish.  Tariff bill showed up a couple weeks after from FedEx.
I ordered frame only a couple of months ago and got charged $0.  No idea why."

The frame came expertly packed with Riv Stickers, a Pushmi-Pullyu hex wrench, downtube cable stops, a chain stay protector, and a Kalloy Seatpost. They even threw in some fun Blue Lug stickers and a lanyard.

At this point the Clem is mostly put together, just waiting for some things to arrive in the mail to finish it up. Will let you know what FedEx hits me with in the coming weeks!

Hey All,

Another group member, Drew in OKC ordered a Joe frame the same week as I ordered my Clem and was charged 10% of the frame cost plus a $17.50 disbursement fee...

I'm still waiting to see if FedEx send me a similar bill, but thought I'd update this thread for those of you interested in ordering a Riv frame that's sold out at here in the states.

Will let you all know if I get a similar bill for the Clem!

Drew,
Congrats on almost finishing the build! My Clem Sergio complete arrives in a week or so. I’ll look for your Vince around town.

I had a $127 order in July and a month or so later got a FedEx bill for $21. Also not itemized. For Duties, taxes, and fees.

I had a Blue Lug order of small, but expensive stuff that I couldn't source in the US. Pats total was $252 + $31.70 shipping. That small package shipped 10 days ago and arrived 5 days ago 15 Oct 26. I just selected the default shipping option which ended up using FedEx. This morning I received a bill in my email from FedEx for $52.82 with a link to a payment portal.  The email and website looks kind scammy, but the tracking number did line up so I clicked the Pay Now button as shown below. Then it asked for my email which I entered and the next screen said your payment is being processed, even though I never entered a credit card number or other payment info, so now its in limbo.

Update 10/20:

K, so very strangely I received an envelope in the mail from FedEx with a record number and details about my shipment. My total charges are listed as $0.00 because they listed the country/territory of manufacture as the U.S.A. and in Box 33 of the Entry Summary the rate is "FREE".

I reckon this must have something to do with how Blue Lug is filling out customs forms? or with how people at Homeland security are reading them? For a Taiwanese made frame, designed by an American company, imported to Japan, then exported to the USA to have no Tariff or Import Duty feels like a comedy of errors. I didn't even pay sales tax!

Don't get me wrong, I'm more than happy to only pay shipping on the frame... but whaaaaa?
