I was finally, after many decades of bike commuting, struck by a car this morning.  While I hurt, I think I'll be ok.  Can't say the same for Bleriot.  At the least, it will need a new fork...

I'll call Rivendell later today, but maybe one of you has a lonesome fork?

Glad you're ok. Good luck with the fork hunt.

I have an Atlantis and a Hunqapillar fork. Don't know if they'll work on the Bleriot.

Glad you're OK.

Lynne, really sorry to hear about the accident. Coming out of such things ok is a great gift. At least that was my experience. Take care of yourself and get everything checked out without delay even if it seems minor. Nerve bruises can linger a bit and sometimes lead to muscle sorenesses through compensation. Nothing to be alarmed or worried about, but I point it out to make sure you get the care you need and any compensation that you are due. Don't take anything for granted and look out for yourself.

Sorry I don't have a fork, but I predict you'll find something good. And if color doesn't match, use it as an excuse to do a repaint. Spruced up bike is a great way to move on from an accident after you are healed and affairs settled.

Good luck!

Lynn - I'm sorry to hear about the accident, happened to me once as well (20 years of commuting).  I hope you don't hurt worse tomorrow and can take a day to rest a bit.

Good luck with the fork search, I'm sure Grant can help.

Lynne, bummed to hear about this. I hope you feel better soon. If
Rivendell doesn't have a fork for you, I bet Joshua (http://
www.cyclesjbryant.com/) could build you one.

So glad you are okay. Can be so scary . The great thing about Riv's is that they can keep yheir people from greater harm and be repaired. Be extra good to yourself,

After inspection of the frame, I can see that it sustainined damage as well. Going to investigate options this weekend. I am sad.

Call the driver's insurance agent and they will tell you how to proceed.
When I was hit, their agent said that a cyclist is a pedestrian. And that means it is the driver's fault automatically (according to what the agent told me). It worked out that way. They paid for my bike repairs and are taking care of the medical bills.

Double & triple bummer! Hopefully you're recuperating well and aren't taken out of commission for too long/at all!!!

My buddy is a bit of a car-magnet, I think he's been hit three times now. He's had only positive experiences getting new bikes from insurance companies, hope it goes as well for you when the time comes.

Here's a fun video of him getting taken out the last time (he call's it the "New Cannondale Event") http://www.flickr.com/photos/cyclotourist/8344290278/

Let me know if you have any questions about it!
