I recently bought an Avid Micro adaptor 74mm BCD to 56mm BCD with a 20 tooth chain ring with the intention of mounting it on my Clem Silver SILVER crank set for lower gearing. Presently, I have the stock SILVER crank set has 34/24T rings with a SunRace 11-40T 9 -speed cassette in the rear and a Shimano M591 long caged rear derailleur with a Wolf Tooth Road link.
Has anyone tried this with success in the way of shifting and working well on their drive train similar to mine ?
I have a T. A. Zephyr triple crank set with 110/74/58 BCD. I bought a chain guard for the outer 110BCD. I took a ramped and pinned T. A. 36T ring and placed it in the middle 74 BCD. Then, took a 20T ring and placed it on the inner 58 BCD. I was told that the triple Zephyr crank set would not work with an outboard bottom bracket from Peter White. Therefore, I am seeking other alternatives for lower gearing.
Any advise or suggestions including pros and cons
