Hello.

I am trying to move my current Rbot (same version)'s .rbot over to
another Linux box (Debian to Fedora), but I am having problems even
after editing ~/.rbot/conf.yaml with different server name (a remote
server versus/vs. localhost's ircd). I get these errors:

$ ./launch_here.rb
Running from /home/ant/bin/rbot

Earlier, I tried rbot from scratch with "git clone git://ruby-rbot.org/rbot.git"
and had no problems. I wanted to restore from my backed up old rbot
datas from last night, but they don't seem to work after I overwrite
the old ones and did changes. :(

Thank you in advance. :)

I ended up solving this exact issue. What happened was a certain library wasn't installed. Rbot apparently won' t throw proper errors in the event certain system packages (not gems) are installed.

For me, the tricky one on debian was libdb-ruby1.8. After apt-getting that, everything immediately started working again.

Best of luck!

Hmmm, I wonder if my friend's Fedora has it. So everything works work?

Yup! 100% back to normal. If you moved the bot and its config files and it stopped working, the problem must lie in the configuration of the new server somehow.

Double and triple check you have the right BDB package. I'm not sure what it's called on Fedora's package manager.

It also might be worth doing a recursive chown on the bot's main directory and config directory to make sure there isn't a wonky permission from the old server being carried over.

OK, I will have to try again later when I have time. I know the Linux
boxes are different: Debian and Fedora.
