Riverside led from the 6:43 mark of the 1st quarter to the end of the game, and led by 12 points early in the 4th, but a fury by Princeton cut the lead to 4 points twice late in the game. While it felt like it was inevitable that Princeton was going to overtake us, they never were able to, and we were able to push the lead back up to double digits before closing it out.

Gary Payton was 13-19 from the field for 28 points. He added 12 assists, 6 rebounds, and 5 steals. He was easily the Star of the Game, covering for foul prone Alonzo Mourning, who picked up his first foul 11 seconds into the game, then his 3rd foul diving after his own missed free throw with 0:36 to play in the 2nd half. He then committed 2 fouls in under 10 seconds in the 2nd half, after sitting the entire 3rd quarter. He still had 22 points and 8 rebounds in his 24 minutes of play. Mitch Richmond (8-13 FG) had 21 points, and Olden Polynice (7-11 FG) had 19 points.

Princeton had an impressive offense, with 15 dazzlers which seems very unusual for the time period. Kendall Gill had 30 points and 8 rebounds, though he missed all 6 of his 3-point attempts. Rod Strickland (9-14 FG) was great. He had 24 points and 10 assists. Danny Ferry (7-10 FG) contributed 17 points off the bench.
