So this wasn't happening an earlier version of pbdDMAT (I think I was
using 0.2-3 most recently before upgrading).

Calls to as.ddmatrix (including just running the example code from
help(as.ddmatrix)) are giving this:

===============================
Using 2x1 for the default grid size

Error in base.rpdgemr2d(x = dx@Data, descx = descx, descy = descy) :
object 'ret' not found
Calls: as.ddmatrix ... .local -> distribute -> dmat.reblock -> base.rpdgemr2d
Execution halted

===============================

This is on Ubuntu 14.04 with current pbdDMAT and dependencies
installed off CRAN. Also occurs on Scientific Linux 6.6.

Hi Chris,

Sorry about that. We had to last minute deprecate a feature before the
CRAN release, and my tests weren't running to catch the bug. It's been
fixed on github, but we're waiting out the clock to not violate the "1-2
month" CRAN policy on updates.

Thanks

Hmm, I just tried installing as follows and got the same error:

git clone https://github.com/wrathematics/pbdDMAT
R CMD build pbdDMAT
R CMD INSTALL pbdDMAT_0.4-1.tar.gz

(RBigData/pbdDMAT is still numbered 0.4-0)

This is with the other pbd packages still being their CRAN versions.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.  The error is in pbdBASE.

Hi Drew,

I'm having the same exact problem as Christopher Paciorek. I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with R 3.1.2 and pbdDMAT_0.4-0 , pbdMPI_0.3-1,  pbdBASE_0.4-3 recently installed from CRAN. I searched in github but  only found an earlier version of pbdBASE 0.4-2. Will I get the problem solved by installing this version?

Thanx!! and congrats to the pbd team for your work.
Joan

Hi Joan,

The latest development version should solve that, and several other problems. There's no github tag release for it, but if you just grab the latest, it should work.

I hope to get these updates to CRAN soon, but I'm being pulled many directions at the moment. But it's on my short term agenda.

Thanks
-Drew
