Dear People,

There will be a game at BUSHROD PARK tomorrow at 11AM, and as of now there are still three slots left and thus ideally, we could really use at least ONE more spontaneous national hero on the fence to tell me they’ll be there. Sure, tons of you are out of town, but if you’re within 2,000 miles, there’s still time to get your priorities straight!

In any case, Bushrod #1 is totally playable and gorgeous with some mushy parts in the outfield and a few minor puddles by home plate and just past 1st, but as soon as Jim, Steve Bedrick and Jerry S read this, they’ll prepare to get there by 10:30ish with buckets, shovels, brooms, and hoes (yeah, hoes), and you should try to join them for moral support and batting practice.

Finally, and for full disclosure:

1-The field is officially closed with a darling “Field closed for maintenance” sign on the main gate on Racine, but all the gates are unlocked, that sign is not on any of the other gates, and as of 4ish this afternoon, there were about 20 doggies and their people frolicking on the lush and verdant grasses.

2-Bushrod #1 is in fine fettle, but as always, we don’t have it reserved, and whether #2 is playable depends on how tolerant we would be of mixing some elements of professional water polo into the basic softball paradigm. In addition, the field at Golden Gate Rec Center West is surprisingly good as a backup backup, but hopefully and most likely, neither of these will be needed.

3-It seems that the bathrooms at the Rec Center on the other side of the deep right fence are closed on weekends (not sure why they were open a couple weeks ago), but there is an impressively clean and lockable Honey Bucket right there as well.

So yeah, there are perils, and it’s obviously never not hard being us, yet we have no choice but to carry on—stout, focused, tender and tenacious . . . Raymond 510-845-7552 / cell 510-677-8860
