Ihave an older version and I've actually been wanting to do this. Does it support a cheat type function for the Gamecube games like Ocarina does for Wii games, or will I still have to use an Action Replay disc? Pretty nice in any case.

To anyone that is going to try be warned if you have a WBFS drive. Gamecube games only run off Fat32 and the default path with USBLoader GX is your SD card to rip games to. You will need to use wbfs2fat-0.8.6 to convert your WBFS USB drive to a FAT32 drive or reformat your drive and redump all your games again. Unless you have a huge SD you'll have to do this. You HAVE to change the custom paths for GC Main Game to USB so games dont rip to your SD card.

When you first run it and it scans your drives, if it reports any errors about the WGBS being damaged, that just means you may have a few corrupt games. Choose the option to ignore the error on the following screen. I didnt have any issues and it saved me tons of time.

Yeah it should work but I'm not 100% if it detects multiple partitions. Im pretty sure it would but I dont have a multi partitioned drive to see. Just go into settings in USB loader GX and point it to the right drive. The setting is called: GC Main Game

it would be great if there was a way to boot directly to USB Loader GX on powerup. having my entire Wii & GCN libraries on the same screen as my other channels is a godsend. currently at 68 titles with 20+ more to rip, and that doesn't include the full ROMsets of GB/GC/GBA/NES/GEN/GG/TG16/VCS.

Hey Cim, I'm trying to get this working, but it seems that this functionality depends on a bajillion other things. Did you manually install/set up DML, d2x, MIOS, etc., or had you previously used some all-in-one hack-o-matic installer?

I originally did everything manually with the old Twilight hack. Back then it was tough because you had to account for so many different things. Nowadays a good all in one will have you set with everything and not screw up what you already have.

anyway, i finally got around to actually launching a GCN title. the program tells me it can't run from USB and that it must copy the game to SD prior to running. that is ricockulous and they need to fix that for a future release.

Plus if I decide to take the Wii on the road all I have to do is pack the Wii and the hard drive. Or if I only plan on playing a few games slap them on a USB stick or SD card and run them from there. It also means less wear and tear on the CD drive. And a ton of other reasons.

The GameCube had a library of excellent games, ranging from first-party Nintendo exclusives to excellent third-party titles that never made it to the PlayStation 2 or the Xbox. Unfortunately, hooking up an older console without an HDMI-converting device on a modern TV can make the experience a nightmare for most players.

Steam Deck owners can play most of the GameCube's library using EmuDeck. The EmuDeck program allows users to run classic games via emulation on the handheld PC. This guide will show users how to install the program and run GameCube and Wii games on the Steam Deck with ease.

Updated on June 13, 2024, by Michael Llewellyn: The EmuDeck is frequently updated, and some of the recent updates have altered the steps that players must follow to add games via the Steam Rom Manager. Furthermore, some players running the Dolphin emulator may experience controller issues that conflict with the recent changes. As such, this guide has been updated to outline the new steps needed to use the Steam Rom Manager. Those looking to reset the controller config and upload or fix missing cover art can also learn how to do so in this update.

The Dolphin emulator is required to run GameCube and Wii games on the Steam Deck. Thankfully, the EmuDeck program makes installing the apps less challenging by removing the complications and making the experience as smooth as possible. Players can use the following steps to install EmuDeck:

Steam Deck users must transfer their legally acquired ROMS to the correct folder. GameCube and Wii ROMS have the same extensions - .ciso, .dol, .elf, .gcm, .gcz, .iso, .m3u, .nkit, .rvz, .wad, .wbfs, .wia. With the files at hand, use the following steps:

The Steam Rom Manager should allocate the correct cover artwork for most emulated GameCube and Wii games. Unfortunately, some more obscure, modded, or translated titles may have missing covers. The following steps can be used to fix missing artwork:

Some GameCube and Wii games use motion controls. This is tricky to replicate on a normal controller unless the game supports it. Thankfully, the EmuDeck includes third-party support that utilizes the Steam Deck's Gryo controls instead of the motion controls. Players can use the following steps to configure the Steam Deck's controls for Wii games:

The Steam Deck's updates can negatively affect the Dolphin's control configuration. This can result in the Steam Deck's controls not being detected when a GameCube and Wii game is running. Resetting the Dolphin config within EmuDeck can update and fix these issues. This can be done via the following steps:

After all installed i tested some gamecube games. All games with sound stuttering and have slow speed. When i interrupt in the game to go back in menue to look for options the sound working perfect. When i resume all stuttering like before.

I have just installed RetroArch and the Dolphin Emulator and a couple GameCube and Wii roms. The Gamecube roms work fine, but the Wii rom doesnt even show up when I scan the directory. The file extension of the Wii ROM is .wbfs. The Wii ROM works in the standalone Dolphin Emulator, but isnt detected by RetroArch. Any tips?

This is the main .iso manipulation tool: It can list, analyze, verify, convert, split, join, patch, mix, extract, compose, rename and compare Wii and GameCube images. It also can create and dump different other Wii file formats.

This is the main .wbfs manipulation tool (.wbfs manager): It can create, check, repair, verify, and clone .wbfs files and partitions. It can list, add, extract, remove, rename and recover ISO images as part of a .wbfs.

This is a support tool for .wdf, .wia, .ciso, and .gcz images. It converts (packs and unpacks), compares, and dumps .wdf and .ciso images. Additionally it dumps .wia and .gcz images and unpacks .wia images.

Dolphin is a fairly straight-forward emulator to set up. Place your Wii ROMs in Emulation/roms/wii and your GameCube ROMs in either Emulation/roms/gc or Emulation/roms/gamecube. No additional setup is required. Read the Configuration section to learn more about Dolphin and its folder locations.

These file locations apply regardless of where you chose to install EmuDeck (to your internal SSD, to your SD Card, or elsewhere). Some emulator configuration files will be located on the internal SSD as listed below.

Paths beginning with Emulation/.. correspond to your EmuDeck install location. If you installed on an SD Card, your path may be /run/media/mmcblk0p1/Emulation/roms/... If you installed on your internal SSD, your path may be /home/deck/Emulation/roms/..

Important Note: Dolphin does not have a way of opening the menu if you are launching the game directly. It is recommended that you change any settings in the Dolphin UI itself before launching a game.

If you have a ROM that is not launching, you can verify your ROM directly in Dolphin. Verifying your ROM confirms whether you have a good dump or a bad dump. If you have a bad dump, your issue may be that your ROM either transferred incorrectly or that you have a bad dump.

If you have a good dump, your issue lies elsewhere. Make sure Dolphin is up to date. If neither of these resolve your issue, make sure to either check Google or retrieve a log so you can share it with the Dolphin team.

Note: If you are having issues with the gyro pointer/cursor not appearing or behaving erratically, you may also want to consider disabling Auto-hide under the Point section on the Motion simulation tab.

Note: Different games have different preferences for Nunchuk and Motionplus support. Under the General and Options tab, you may uncheck Attach MotionPlus or select the appropriate extension in the drop-down menu. Be sure to create and save a new profile for each circumstance to quickly load the different profiles as needed.

M3U files can be used to manage multiple discs for Dolphin. With the Change Discs Automatically option toggled (turned on by default with EmuDeck), Dolphin will automatically switch discs in combination with an M3U file.

IMPORTANT: Multiplayer controllers are fully configured by EmuDeck. If you simply would like to set up multiplayer, see How to Configure Multiplayer. You do not need this section if you are satisfied with the default control layout. This section covers how to reconfigure the controls for Players 2-4 if you would rather use a custom configuration.
