Cloud DevOps Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid) – Must be local

Rate: 60 C2C

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes (AKS/ACA), Terraform, and GitHub Actions. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, deploying, and managing cloud-native applications and infrastructure while implementing modern DevOps practices and CI/CD automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and provision Azure cloud infrastructure using Terraform (IaC).
• Build and maintain Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
• Deploy and manage applications using Helm Charts.
• Configure and maintain Active/Active and Active/Passive Azure environments.
• Deploy and support React Single Page Applications (SPA) and Spring Boot Microservices.
• Implement and manage ephemeral environments using Docker-in-Docker (DinD).
• Troubleshoot Azure networking, infrastructure, and application deployment issues.
• Configure logging, monitoring, and alerting using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
• Implement Azure security best practices, including RBAC, identity management, WAF, and Key Vaults.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to streamline deployment processes.
• Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Optimize Azure resource utilization and cloud spending.

Required Skills

Cloud & DevOps

• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Azure Container Apps (ACA)
• Terraform
• GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipeline development
• Docker and Docker Swarm
• Helm Charts
• Kubernetes (CKAD certification preferred)
• Service Mesh experience

Development & Build Tools

• Maven / Gradle
• GitHub
• Spring Boot
• Eclipse, IntelliJ, or Visual Studio

Infrastructure & Security

• Linux (RedHat / Ubuntu)
• NGINX
• Azure Front Door
• WAF
• Azure Key Vault
• CDN technologies (Akamai, Front Door)
• Artifact Management (Artifactory / Nexus)

Additional Preferred Skills

• ServiceNow (1–3 years)
• Checkmarx / SonarQube (1–3 years)
• Agile/Scrum development environments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
• 7+ years of relevant IT experience.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Certifications

• CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer)
• Azure Certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400)
• Terraform Associate Certification

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud-native architecture and microservices.
• Experience managing enterprise-scale Azure environments.
• Knowledge of security scanning and DevSecOps practices.
