Hi Darrian,

A bit of feedback from the first of a few meetings with doctors this week on the OPD designs:

  1. Overall very, very impressive – well done!!
  2. Height should be recorded in centimeters throughout
  3. On the right side, for the bubbles that represent previous visits – a different color should denote a visit that was an admit (a patient didn’t just visit the hospital to see the OPD, but was admitted for any reason).
  4. We want to have buttons for alcohol and tobacco in social history. Tobacco will be oral or smoking and then further, the option should be present or past. Further, there should be an option for heavy or occasional (smoking). For drinking there should be options like ‘daily’ or ‘occasional’ or ‘experienced withdrawal’
  5. for family history – we want one of these standard, simple, genetics-based family tree diagrams: http://knol.google.com/k/-/-/LuvGwunq/N9XT4A/GC_Figure%201.jpg on which we could mark whether there have been family history due to TB, family history of sickle cell, etc.
  6. there should be multiple attempts at taking TB recorded (nurses usually take it twice, at least) and if it doesn’t register then option should state ‘not recordable’.
  7. for women there should be a checkbox early on for whether they are pregnant, and when was their last menstrual cycle.
  8. for temperature, it should denote if it was taken orally, rectally or underarm (auxiliary).
  9. Oxygen saturation should be in vitals. Two options: not recorded, and value
  10. there should be a pictogram pain scale (1-5) on vitals. Something along the lines of this: http://0.tqn.com/d/pain/1/0/N/-/-/-/wong_baker_faces.gif

That’s a lot to get started with. More tomorrow!

Best,
 Daniel

Hi Bijal,

No problem.  I always have the same problem myself - it's what happens with volunteer work :-).  Well, the point you say is the same as has come up several times - we don't have a style!  Most use very simplified mock tools such as Balsamiq - I don't like them as much as it doesn't give me an idea for spacing, how color affects the layout, etc. and so I use more graphical elements.  My screens should not be mistaken for an attempt at hi-res - they are simply colourful mocks.  The reason we can't really make a common style for us, is that OPD is just a part of the whole system, and so the style needs to be common for all - so we come back to the same point again :-).

There is plenty do do otherwise, however, so I would suggest that while we wait for this to be resolved, we can have a discussion this weekend to explain to you what has been done and why, and from there see how to make better, which elements are missing, etc.

Sound OK?

Hi Daniel/Darrian,

Apologies for replying late. I have been out at client place so not being able to check company place.

@Darrian: We can catch up on weekends. I have started with one page. I think we need to put some styles common so that we dont end up redundancy of css styles. Let catch up on putting some common styles for OPD module and all three of us will be able to use it and not end up duplicating it.

Bijal

Hi Bijal,

Thank you for your email.  Sorry I haven't been able to contact you sooner, but during the week is often hectic and so I often catch up on weekends.

Are you a developer or designer?  or both?  Good to hear you will be helping on the OPD.  This weekend I updated the content and provided more description on the process made up to now for both you and Carolin to understand better what I have been doing.  All is in my folder Darrian - version 2.

I am available all this week and as for time, I usually prefer sometime in the morning after 10 am here until 12:30.  If not possible, can also do from 15:30 to 18:30.  Let me know what works for you and we can set up a time.  My Skype is darrian.young.

Talk to you soon.
