Topic: Amazon Web Services, Building in the Cloud
Abstract:
Amazon has been offering a variety of compelling web services for the last couple of years. These service can help with some of the "heavy lifting" required for modern web applications. This talk will focus on the Elastic Compute Cloud, Simple Storage Service, Simple Queue Service and the Simple DB service. We'll talk about the services and how they can be combined to build interesting applications. We'll also cover two Java client libraries that interface with these services, including sample code and demos.
Bio:
David Kavanagh is a software consultant for directthought in Upstate New York. He has been designing and developing software for 15 years. For the past year and a half, his focus has been on leveraging Amazon Web Services. He is the author of the open source typica library which provides a Java interface for an expanding set of Amazon Web Services and has been developing AWS-based applications for a variety of customers.
